The first minister of the church was Gabriel Pool, a former slave who had belonged to the Cleveland family. Carole
Well, had to go back and review my McBee History "Out of the wilderness" book and realized that Vardry is the Uncle of my gg grandfather,James McBee of the McBee Chapel community. I would suggest Xaviar write me what he knows and I'll write an article for the Braymer Bee newspaper and see if any of the McBee's who read it have any of the old pictures or family histories that would mention the slave's or property settlements of Vardry. As many of you know William McBee and his wife Susanna had 4 sons and 3 daughters,Samual,Vardry,James,Mathis,Elizabeth,Joannah and Mary. James stayed in S. Carolina but his son Thomas married Rachel RIley and moved to Ohio. The boys and their mother moved to Missouri in 1835 and landed in Hardin Missouri and later moved to Millville,Missouri. JW moved to the homeplace that I show on my web site. I am the great grandson of Carrie McBee Kelly.
