    3. Apologies for the empty message! I don't know what happened. I was looking around at the Scots Origins website, and found Irish Origins, http://www.irishorigins.com/, which is a free search engine. They say, "Welcome to the beta version of Irish Origins The definitive site for searching your Celtic roots Use our specialised genealogy software to search for FREE over Irish genealogy web pages, containing 2,131,537 names, including census data, Griffith's valuations, ships passenger lists, church records, convict records and more. At present, this page contains a limited free web search which you may of course use, but please note that the search interface and available data will be changing considerably within the next few weeks." So of course I plugged in "mcbee", since the family story is that we are Scotch-Irish. I never find any McBees in any Irish databases, however! From this search engine, I got 3 results: CLONCHA PARISH Births 1669 to 1783 Co Donegal [46 KB] http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~donegal/clonchareg.htm 1728 <snip> 18th - Daniel McBEA had a child baptised called Hugh, George HARROD and Hugh McMATH Godfathers, Meve LINCHECHON Godmother. This is in County Donegal, which while part of the historical Ulster, and in northern Ireland, is not part of the British colony Northern Ireland, but instead, part of the independent nation of Eire (Republic of Ireland). The websites I consulted had nothing to say about why that was so. --- My Bradfield Family Tree Raymond 1953 .. 6 Carol Anne Swanton 1951 .. +Edward McBee.. 1st Husband of Carol Anne Swanton:.. +Peter Aquinde.. 6 Virginia (Gin.... [24 KB] http://www.ginnisw.com/Bradfield%20Family%20Tree.htm This seems to be a contemporary Edward McBEE, since his wife was born in 1951! --- Chasing Our Tales - Scots-Irish/Andy Jackson I was brought up on stories told by my grandmother. Her name was Harriett Elizabeth McBee. It is a grand Scottish name from the Clan McBane.... [15 KB] http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~pimi/COT.ScotsIrishJackson.ht ml This is a general discussion of the Scots/Scotch-Irish, their origins and history. I hope you have fun with this site! Valorie
