    3. Subject: Holt Co. MO -- Is Marcus VanDoren McBEE really Martin VanBuren McBEE? Date: Thu, 6 Jun 2002 17:58:12 -0600 From: susancurtis123@hotmail.com Gatewayed Message Board Post, Classification: Query Surnames: McBee, Wright, Brownlee, Magby, Stone, Leasur, Leisere, Guy, Gandee - Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/HNz.2ACEB/498 Message Board Post ### Please CLICK THE LINK to Respond ### : I am interested in the following marriage from Holt Co., MO: MCBEE, Marcus Van Doren md. Mary Belle WRIGHT 10 Mar 1867. After searching in vain for this Marcus and Mary McBee in every database I can think of, it dawned on me that like many other Holt Co. marriages, the name may have been completely misspelled and maybe should have read Martin Van Buren MCBEE instead? Martin MCBEE worked for Joseph BROWNLEE in 1870. George MAGBY, 16 resided in Joseph BROWNLEE's household in 1860. George MCBEE sued Joseph BROWNLEE's estate for labor back wages after Joseph's death in the early 1870's. George W. MCBEE married Mary Jane STONE 5 Apr 1870 at the home of John LEASUR. John LEISERE resided in the home of Joseph BROWNLEE in 1850. Lastly, Sarah STONE, 22, KY worked as a domestic for Joseph BROWNLEE when Martin MCBEE worked there in 1870. I believe that Mary Belle WRIGHT has some ties to the BROWNLEEs (WRIGHT cousins, the GUYs married BROWNLEEs) and also indirect ties to the GANDEEs (Uriah GANDEE lived nearby Minerva WRIGHT in 1850 Lewis Co., KY) so a marriage to Martin is actually not out of the realm of possibility. Martin MCBEE md. Amanda (Keeney) GANDEE on 29 Dec 1872 in Holt Co., MO.
