Nelda, I noticed some interesting things in your email that I wanted to get information about. Mary Peck - A Mary Peck donated land for public buildings in Marion Co TN according to the local historian Eulene Harris. I know that I've seen the McBees there in many records. What do you know about the Peck family? Nancy Kelly - 7532. - Alexander Kelly was elected to Congress from Knox Co TN in 1796. His daughter Elizabeth married James McCandless in Blount Co. in 1801. They came to Marion Co TN and there are several of them in the 1836 tax list of that county along with two McBees. In that same area were three McCandless men though one is listed only as Candless. This McCandless is my line and the grandson of that James McC married the daughter of Jessee McBee in 1859. Jessee McBee b. 1819 md. Lucinda Poole, both were born in TN. I think there is a connection to the Peck family as well but it is nothing more than a indication at this time. Have you anything that would add to this? After having read the two misunderstandings and thought about them I've decided that each of us is at different points in life. (That is probably the reason for these misunderstandings.) There is and additional black church Vardry gave land to. I can not remember its name but it is on some type of national registry for the preservation of older buildings. This is good. Additional information is being spread about Vardry. As I said before, he was not a bad man. He encouraged education, a philanthropist, etc. He also had such strong lungs that he could holler messages from his front porch to his workers running errands for him downtown Greenville. My grandmother also had those lungs.
