Her husband is a decedant of Sam, Jr. and it was from her that I obtained the info I have on Samuel Robinson. NO!! As of date no one has positively proven who the parents of Samuel McBee (b. 1772) really are. All records seem to have been destroyed, speculation, because of custom, his father's first name was William but nothing definate. My husband's maternal family are our tie to the family. Feel free to contact me email:oregontreefarm1@earthlink.net don't know that I have anymore information than you as I have not worked the file in quite sometime but wiil share what I have. Maxine is up in years and now a widow but she still keeps up with her genealogy research and is an excellant contact.

The following article is from Eastman's Online Genealogy Newsletter and is copyright 2002 by Richard W. Eastman. It is re-published here with the permission of the author. International Society of Sons and Daughters of Slave Ancestry A recent Associated Press article describes the work of the International Society of Sons and Daughters of Slave Ancestry. This society offers research tools such as a slave database, oral histories, old photographs, census data, and birth and death certificates. Several other groups assist in genealogical research, but this Chicago-based organization specializes in slave ancestry, and a proven link to a slave is a requirement for membership. The newspaper article describes how Janis Minor Forte found her great-grandfather in a jail document -- he was listed among the possessions his owner lost in a bet. "Needless to say I let out a holler," Forte said. The discovery was chilling and exhilarating: "a certain Negro man slave, Walton, about 26 years of age and of black complexion." Forte had found another slave in her family tree. You can read this interesting article at: http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20020731/ap_wo_en_po/fea_us_slave_ancestry_1 The International Society of Sons and Daughters of Slave Ancestry can be found at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilissdsa/ --- Sounds like an *excellent* place to post any information about slaves that we come across in our research. It's as if the past generations never bothered to ask about the family roots, or if they did know, it's a skeleton in our family closet. My grandfather's name was William Alvin Reed Mocahbee, born 3 Oct.1886 in KY(not sure if it was Estill or Fayette County)..his parents were James Mocahbee ( all we know about him is that he is supposedly buried in Bisbee Arizona) and Mary Ellen "Molly" Adams..who supposedly was born in Glasgow, Scotland and she is supposedly buried in the Old Lexington Cemetery, Lexington KY. The only information we've able to find is that my grandfather married my grandmother..Hattie Lee Baker who was the daughter of Washington Lafayette Baker and Mary Catherine Brown . Any guidance/advice will be greatly appreciated. Have you even seen or heard of my family spelling? Thanks, Denise Schutt schuttdl@comcast.net

I found the following notice in Missing Links: CANADA. Saskatchewan & Area Cemetery Stone Data. "Ilene's Index" is a searchable database of thousands of cemetery records from southeast Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and North Dakota, collected across the prairies thanks to the generous support of individuals, church and community groups. http://www.quantumlynx.com/ilenel/burials.htm PERMISSION TO REPRINT articles from MISSING LINKS is granted unless stated otherwise, provided: (1) the reprint is not used for commercial purposes; and (2) the following notice appears at the end of the article: Previously published in MISSING LINKS, Vol. 7, No. 29, 21 July 2002 http://www.petuniapress.com By the way, to subscribe to ML, go to petuniapress.com. :-) I did a search of McBee on the site, and got the following results: McBEE, Alta May 1913/03/17 McBEE, Clara E. 1967 McBEE, Lloyd Sidney 1921/01/15 McBEE, Sidney 1950 McBEE, Sidney 1950/06/15 This accords with the records I have for my Great-Uncle & Aunt's family, although I'm puzzled by the 2 records for Sidney. Since it costs $10 each to see the details, I'll trust that this is from the Osage Cemetery in Sask. If any list members ever are out that way, I would pay for pictures of the gravesites. I also asked on the Saskatchewan list, and a couple of kind people sent me map links and other information. Just in case Ben's people are lurking about, I found out that his land is north of Thompkins, on Highway #1 west of Regina, Moose Jaw, and Swift Current. Fillmore, on the other hand, is SE of Regina, so there are a few hundred miles separating them - MSN maps says 263 miles. Heather also gave me these good links: Sask Wheat Pool Map of the Fillmore area, which is West 2nd: http://www.rootsweb.com/~skwheat/regina1924.gif Finding Homestead locations: http://www.rootsweb.com/~cansk/Saskatchewan/homesteadlocation.html I have never heard of a Ben McBEE in our family, so perhaps there is no connection.
