Please tell us more about your KY McBee/Mockbee Families. We have had very little info on the list for Kentucky McBee's. I am a decedent of Philip McBee (Mockbee) of Grant County, Ky., who came from Maryland via West Virginia in/around 1804. I would be happy to exchange information on this family. Stephen M. Vest Smvest@aol.com
There is a McBee Cemetery in Taylor Co. TX off 514 West of Ovalo, Texas. Does anyone have any information on the McBees there? Ron McCandless
Hi Ron, Yes, this is our Narcissa Jane (McBee) & Edward William Cameron/Camron, dates, locations and Father's name are the same. Don't know why they turned her name around and used "Wilborn" for his middle name as far as I know his name was William. Their headstones can be seen at: http://teafor2.com in the Johnson Station Cemetery. Thanks for posting it, hope we can connect to more of this family Elnora Frances Cook-Wyrick ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ron McCandless" <ronmcctx@austin.rr.com> To: <MCBEE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, November 07, 2002 1:03 PM Subject: Re: [McBEE] Jane Narcissa McBee 12-1-1848 > I'm aware of Narcissa Jane McBee but this seems to have a different middle name for > the husband and a the name for the bride turned around? I'm aware of Narcissa Jane McBee but this seems to have a different middle name for the husband and a the name for the bride turned around? Did this match your date of death or birth? Saw it and knew it didn't match the data I'd seen but wanted to make certain that line know about it. Esteemed cousins -- I'm leaving in a few hours to visit my niece and her brand new baby -- in Wyoming, a state I have never visited. I won't be taking my laptop, so will be out of touch all week. Rather than missing any mail, I'm going to let it all pile up, but will be (probably) slow to catch up. Please keep your posts "on topic" while I'm gone. :-) Wish me a safe flight, and pleasant trip! "See" you all when I get home, Valorie
Danny, I would very much like to see what you have in mind, might be a very useful added resource. I would be willing to participate. I think it is a great idea Danny. I have not been on a computer very long, so I don't understand Gedcom files or rtf documents. But will do my part if I can. I have only been doing this for less than a year. But thanks to all of you I have found a lot of information. Thanks again for all of your hard work. Just let me know what to do. McBee49@aol.com wrote: >I am interesting in starting a "Clearing House" for information on our McBee >families. > I think we HAVE that 'clearing house' -- right here on the McBee-L, and the Message Boards. We also have the wonderful advantage of the World Connent system, which can be kept updated, and to which other researchers can attach "Post-Ems". I have started a McBee website, and Jean has the wonderful Great McBee Hunt. I really wish more McBee researchers were filling our Message Board with their data. Even short GEDCOMS can be uploaded, along with photographs or scans of documents, which could accompany transcriptions of Wills, Pensions, Bible Records, Obituaries, and so forth. I've been doing my best to scour the web and place information on the Board, but I basically *have* no information about my own McBees. The family Bible was thrown in the swamp when my grandfather deserted his family. We've managed to get a good deal of information up in the last 4 years, but I feel that so much more could be done! I would love to see Danny store information, but I would like even MORE for it to be stored in our Message Board, our list archives, World Connect, and our website. The reason for that -- public access. When someone comes across a McBee name in their research, they will be able to FIND us. Someday, I hope we sort out ALL the McBees. I want us to find every birth, marriage, divorce, land record, census record, death, gravestone, etc., and sort these people out into families and descendencies. This has been my dream since I asked for this list and the GenConnect boards to be created back in 1999. When we get those 19th century McBees "all sorted out," I hope some people will be writing some McBee books. :-) Valorie > I have done extensive research on the McBee family that originated >in Maryland back in the late 1690s which included Matthew McBee and wife Mary >Brock. Danny, I think it is a great idea. Then, maybe all of the McBee's would come together. All of our lines started with Matthew McBee and Jane Brock. Keep us posted. Elnora McBee-Muller

DAnny, I belong to another mailing group--ACUFF--and thery have a central location like you have suggested, with a goal of recording every Acuff and all their decendants. They keep copies of records, photos etc and make it available. It works well, and I am in favor. And maybe someday, I will be able to put my Ganum Cox Mcbee into a family where I can actually prove he belongs! I am interesting in starting a "Clearing House" for information on our McBee families. I have done extensive research on the McBee family that originated in Maryland back in the late 1690s which included Matthew McBee and wife Mary Brock. If you haven't heard yet, in honor of Family History Month, the LDS has put the 1880 US Census transcription online, and the 1881 UK & Canadian Censuses, also. As a bonus, you can search all three at once! Search hints are here: http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/census/search_census_hints.asp I asked for the exact spelling of McBee, because not doing so gave too many matches. Exact spelling off gave 1677 matches! Exact spelling ON gave 700 matches for the US Census! I have the CDs, and was planning on finding and sending all the McBEEs to the list, but perhaps now that this is online, y'all can do your own searching! I still intend to do webpages for all the McBees in all the census years, but I see that I'm going to have my work cut out for me. For a lark, here are the first 33 McBEEs in the 1881 Canadian Census: 1. Addie MCBAY - 1881 Canadian Census / New Brunswick Gender: Female Birth: <1858> New Brunswick 2. Looking for information on Christopher C. McBee born circa 1855 in Georgia. Father was born in South Carolina and mother born in Georgia. Christopher was married to a Rosa [and or Roxy]. They had children Mary, Martha, and Jesse. I would love to correspond with anyone with information on this family. Christopher was living in Paulding County, Georgia in the Dallas and Acorn Tree Townships, in the 1920 and 1930 Census. Thanks a million for any information on this family. Danny A. McBee.
