I suggest that for now, you post your information and queries here, or on the boards. Posts to the boards are automatically sent to me, and I forward them on to the list. My own family 'says' some people spelled it Magby.....but I haven't found them. Valorie

DATABASE OF THE DAY (Free for 10 Days!) <<<>>><<<>>><<<>>><<<>>><<<>>><<<>>><<<>>><<<>>><<<>>> ======================================================= Records of Immigrants to Canada, Part One Historically, Canada has been the destination for millions of immigrants from around the world seeking a better life in North America. Compiled from a variety of sources, this database is a collection of over 83,000 records between 1780 and 1906 relating to immigrants to Canada. Researchers will find the name of the immigrant and year and source of the original record. The entries in this database are not complete transcriptions of the original records; an e-mail link is provided at the bottom of each results page for those who would like to purchase a more detailed electronic transcript for a particular entry. This database can be immensely helpful for researchers with Canadian ancestors. We will periodically be adding more Canadian immigration data to our online library, so return to Ancestry.com often. 1. [MCBEE-L] Banner Day at Rootsweb!
    2. Valorie Zimmerman
    3. This is such an exciting time to be doing genealogy. With the growth of the Internet, there is an explosion of new information sources available to us, and new, innovative ways of locating and organizing all that data. You've all heard of the official opening of the LDS site, and how it is getting so many hits it is already overloaded! In contrast, before Rootsweb's newest innovation, they put new, lightening fast servers online, and are well-equipped to handle the heavy traffic. If any of you do not receive Rootsweb Review, you can ask me for a copy. The improvements in Rootsweb's structure and ease-of-use are so well explained in RWR, that I don't want to try to restate, and it's unfair to the subscribers to quote it all! The Listowners and GenConnect coordinators knew about these big changes a couple of days ago, and I have just been bursting with the desire to spill the beans to my lists! Now RWR is out to the public. This is *so exciting*! Even if you think you have thoroughly researched your surnames at Rootsweb, plug into <http://resources.rootsweb.com/surnames/> and prepare to be amazed! All the best, Valorie, IBSSG Ecstatic newbie listowner/GCC for Baysinger and McBee Prouder than ever sponsor of Rootsweb

Valorie -------- Original Message -------- Subject: RE: need help please Date: Thu, 27 May 1999 14:33:52 EDT From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Hi, I have just begun looking up family geneology information and was hoping that you wouldn't mind giving out some assistance. My mothers maiden name is McBee. We don't have alot of information about my mothers family and so I thought I would try this search out. Mom stated that her fathers name was either James J. McBee or J. James they called him JJ, he was from Georgia and he died in the late 1940's, he was married to Caroline Belinda Todd (this was his second wife) and she was from Florida, she died in the 1960's . My mother is the 10th of the 11 children that they had and they lived in St. Augistine until she married my father in 1941. That really is about all we know about my mothers family and hope that you can help go down the correct path. Thanks if you can help, you can reach me at either of the following e-mail address: [email protected] or [email protected] Thanks again. Kathy McCartney

    3. Butch; My name is Jackie Lindsey. I am researching my McBee side of the family also. Noticed that your William Pryor McBee was from Grainger Co. My GGG grandfather was William C. McBee, b.March 16,1808 in Grainger Co, TN. He married a Susan Hawkins, they had 6 children and he died Nov. 21,1874 in Collin Co, TX. I have not been able to connect him to any McBees. I am looking for his family to complete this line. Do you have any connection to this William C. McBee? Or any information with this name? Need all the help I can get there is a dead end here.
