    1. [MCBEE-L] Where was Robert McBee & Family
    2. John & Elnora Wyrick
    3. Is there anyone who has access to the 1870/80 Census Index for Texas, that could see if there is a listing for Robert McBee in Llano County, Texas, for those years. I have gotten some old deeds that place him in Llano County TX in 1876; He and his Brother John G McBee sold their interest in land in Van Zandt and Kaufman Counties to a James W Henson who lived in Kaufman Co. I believe he was in Van Zandt Co, TX in 1868 where he married Mahala Jay, They are not on either 1870/80 Census of Van Zandt or Kaufman County. I want to find him and his family for those years and have found my first clue of where he might have been; In that Deed he is listed as being in Llano County, TX in 1876. All Help Greatly Appreciated. Elnora Frances Cook-Wyrick

Bonnie mailto:[email protected] Reminder to all: make that one last check, before you push <send>! Make sure your Subject line is eye-catching -- after all, that's what you want, is to catch everyone's eye! And not just when it first hits the list....later, when someone is searching the Threaded Archives, also. And snip all unneeded material in replies. That makes it easier for folks to see your further question, or answer. Finally, Real Soon Now (tm) I'm going to get our website up and running. There we can have a good list of researchers, and their contact info. I hope everyone is having a better summer than the weather reports indicate! All the best, Valorie

    3. Hi Vicky! You are just the person I am looking for! My family (now spelled MCVOY, but rumored to orig. w/ MCEVOY) may be connected. Another researcher told me of a MURTHOUGH MOCKBEE aka MURTHIE MCABOY, MURTHIE MCBEE, MURDOCK M'COVEY??, etc. who all may be related! The orig. Murthough McABOY/MCBEE was apparently SCT and came as a prisoner who was transported to CALVERT CO MD (according to the fellow researcher) but I have seen no definite research or records yet. There was a MURTHIE MCABOY in FARQUIER CO VA according to info sent me the other day, a MARTIN MCVOY with a brother named JOS.MURPHY MCV0Y in CALVERT CO MD(MINE) in the 1800's, a MURDOCK M'COVEY of NC listed in the 1850 MONROE CO AL census and a MURTHOUGH MCEVOY somewhere on the LDS ON-LINE stuff. Are these folks connected????? My MCVOY folks were said to have orig in the CAROLINAS from IRE, but again, no proof. The name of MARTIN keeps recurring as do the names of THOMAS,WILLIAM, JAMES, ALEXANDER, JOSEPH, and CHARLES. We do know that the CHARLES is from CHARLES LEBARON who married into our family. ANOTHER recurring name was G.W. & VINCENT. LOCATIONS are SOUTHEAST USA. Now in my particular line, THOMAS, MARTIN, ALEXANDER & JOSEPH are most prominent-- even to this day as my bro. is THOS.MARTIN. Note: MURTHOUGH/MURTHIE MCABOY/MCABOY/MCBEE, relative of BROCK and brother of THOMAS, was from MD??? Was in VA. Had some info. Someone asked if MURTHOUGH was related to ELIZABETH PUMPHREY? I have some will info, etc. I found at the library for an ELIZAB.GIVENS. 3. Hi Valorie, and McBee Listers, Yes, He is listed in Kaufman Co., TX 1850 Census with his first wife Elizabeth O. and daughter Narcissa J. then he leaves for CA in March 1851 (according to the Divorce Petition). I must assume the lure of the Gold Rush was too much for him. :) I have posted queries to Amador and Calaveras CA, Counties pages. There are many sets of twins in JG's Descendant Line also. Thanks for the suggestions. Elnora Frances Cook-Wyrick Valorie Zimmerman wrote: > Elnora, have you found him in the 1850 census? Elnora, have you found him in the 1850 census? And does CA have any state/terr. wide censuses or other indexed records you could check? I know that there are some top-notch California lists/GC/Genweb sites, if you can put him in a *region*. Could he have been a "Forty-Niner"? 3. Searching for descendants of John Garvin McBee, our family history reported that he was in CA, 1850-1860 and fathered Twin Sons, that history does not say he was married to the mother of those boys or give any names or locations. I do find him living alone, on the 1860 Census of Calavares Co., in San Andreas, Dwelling # 1905, family # 1793, John G. McBee, 36 year old, male, working as a Miner, born in TN. He lives beside a Merchant, Robert M Redman age 28 , born in England and his family, wife Esther age 28, born in MS and their female child age 1/12, name is unreadable, born in CA. John Garvin may have abandoned the Woman, and their sons, as I find him back in Van Zandt Co., TX on the 1870 Census, living with his sister and her family, where he married my Great Grandmother in 1877 and had 6 more children. I have just gotten the copies of divorce petition filed (1858) by his first wife in Kaufman Co., TX; which charges that he abandoned her and their first child a daughter (Narcissa Jane) in 1851 and disregarding his marriage vows, was currently living in the State of CA with another woman. Since finding that part of the family history is true we want to find out if the part about the twin sons is also true. We know the "John G McBee" from IL shown in Tulare Co., CA, who married Eliza Turman, is NOT our "John Garvin McBee" Does any of this sound familiar, is there someone else with similar Family History. Appreciate ALL help we can get on this. Thanks, Elnora Frances Cook-Wyrick

    3. Here it is the dog days of summer, and "greer," our newest subscriber, puts us over 50 members! Greetings, greer! I'm sure as soon as the weather cools down, and school starts, we will have a rise in list membership, and more posts to both our list, and our GenConnect boards. Not bad progress from the small beginning of a list of one, beginning in May! Don't forget, we have a whole 'cluster' under one roof....If you haven't visited our McBee Resources Page lately, you might check on the latest at <http://resources.rootsweb.com/surnames/m/c/MCBEE/>. Please invite any McBee researchers that you meet online to join the list. The more of us there are, the more we can help each other. And when you come across a will, an obituary, a Bible record, deed or pension that you are typing up for your own database, think of contributing it to our GenConnect boards. Not only will it help other researchers, it will also help other researchers find YOU. You are a fascinating, talented group of researchers, and it is a joy to have you all on the McBee list. All the best, Valorie Zimmerman Black Diamond, Washington USA Proud sponsor of Rootsweb

    1. [MCBEE-L] Breakthrough- Proof!!!!!
    2. John & Elnora Wyrick
    3. Hello All; Some of you may have seen my posts regarding the William H McBee Family of Kaufman and Van Zandt Counties, TX and recall that for some of my assumptions I did not have proof. Well I have Proof.William H McBee was the Father of; John Garvin McBee and Nancy McBee-Scroggins, is his sister, she is the wife of Daniel W Scroggins. I received the divorce records of John Garvin McBee and his first wife Elizabeth O Reaves-McBee today from the "Terrell Heritage Society", as they were not at the Court House any more. These records plainly state that Wm. H. McBee is the Father and D.W. Scroggins is the brother in-law of John Garvin McBee. So Just Keep Looking and Look at "EVERYTHING YOU CAN FIND ON THE FAMILY"; Hope you all can get the Break that I got from a most unexpected source. not just census and marriage records! Happy Hunting, Elnora Frances Cook-Wyrick

    3. A little tidbit from The Surnames of Scotland by G.F. Black : 1601 (Burgesses), Callome McBee and Donald McBee in Brockland were fined for reset of outlawed Macgregors, 1613 (RPC.,xiv,p. 640). We know the McBees are in Scotland in 1601- but where is Brockland? If anyone knows, please pass it on. John McBee [email protected]
