Today's Rootsweb Review had this notice: WORLDCONNECT AND GENCONNECT NOW "CONNECTED." A number of RootsWeb users report a novel combined use of RootsWeb's WorldConnect Project and its GenConnect Surname and County message boards. After uploading their GEDCOMs to the WorldConnect project, these clever users have then posted messages containing an active link to these GEDCOMs on the GenConnect message boards that relate to their surnames and/or counties of interest. The result is that anyone seeing the posts on the GenConnect message boards can then click through directly to the uploaded GEDCOM. Kudos to our users for inventing a wonderful combined use of RootsWeb resources. ------- If you have an existing query or other GenConnect post that you would like to have *edited* to include a link to your WorldConnect gedcom, just drop me a note with the exact URL for both your post, and your gedcom account, and how you want the new URL included. Otherwise, you can just make a new post containing this information. All the best, Valorie GCC for the GenConnect boards

Thanks for the helpful URL. Also ca. 1807 there was a JOHN MacVEAN who was (together with another preacher) in charge of the EDISTO Circuit (Methodist)in Orangeburg, SC. I am looking for information on the family of Joel Magby first seen in Pike Co., AR in the 1850 census as the son of Robert and Polly Magby of Walker Co., AL. In the Pike Co.1860 census Joel has married Emily Tull and they have several children including a son with the initials G.M. I cannot find these Magbys in the 1870 census in Pike County or in Scott Co., AR where Emily appears as a widow in 1880. Emily is not living with any of the Scott Co. Tulls in the 1870 census nor with her sister Nancy Tull Magby, a civil war widow. In the 1880 Scott Co. Census there is Robin Magby, a son of Joel and Emily, and a Marion Magby married to Annie with no children. This Marion is the same age as G.M. Magby but says he was b. in TN where G.M. in 1860 was b. AR. In 1888 a record has G.M. Magby as a bondsman for a custody case. In the 1890 reconstructed census of Scott Co., there is a G. M. Magby. I believe G. M. Magby could be General Marion Magby, my husband's gr.grandfather b. 1856 AR; d. 1941 OK. He married a woman named Fannie (Hughes, Haynes, Hayes) and had a child Kathryn (Kate) b. 1886. Kate 1. m. Stephen Alexander Porter and 2 m. McKinley Bailey. They moved to Indian Territory or OK (not sure of the year). Does anyone have information on the Joel or G. M. Magby families ? Does anyone know what the intitials G. M. stand for or where these Magbys were during 1870 ? I do not know too much about this family but what I have, I will share. Cathey Jendeski [email protected]
from the Rampant Scotland newsletter: MacBean Stuart and Jacobite Collection, University of Aberdeen http://george.qmlib.abdn.ac.uk/macbean.html This project provides access to around 1,300 engravings and woodcuts that form part of the larger MacBean Collection which has 3,500 books and 1,000 pamphlets covering every aspect of the Jacobite Uprisings.
**also fwd to list in case it will help anyone else. Hi Larry, good to hear back from you. Found some stuff at the library last night. There was a book "MARYLAND GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY, VOL 24, 1983 which had a census for the year 1800 for PRINCE GEORGE'S CO MD. It listed a man named ZADOC MCABOY (Last name as spelled) 1231020111004 (free wh. males under 10/10-16/16-26/26-45/45+, free white females under10/10-16/16-26/26-45/45+ ??/ # slaves? _________ My family spelled their name as MCBOY in 1812. I DID find a roster of MCBOY'S 14th REG't of the MISSISSIPPI TERRITORY MILITIA. Diego MCBOY was a MAJOR *(he was my 3rd great uncle) and his brother WILLIAM (aka GUILLERMO) was in the company as a Private. He was my 3rd great grandfather and was also known as "Martin" but no clue why. I did find him listed as G.M. MACABOY in a 1830's petition for GADSEN? to be the first GOV. of FLORIDA. Perhaps his middle name was Martin. Then Diego's obit in the Mobile AL paper lists him as M.DIEGO MCVOY when he died 12-1841. I still wonder if all these "MARTIN" MCBOY and MORTAUGH MCABOY'S are not connected??? Well, found a few oher things, but the spellings were MACVOY, etc. Found a will for a William McOboy of Cork IRE for 1785 (Indexes to Irish Wills, Ed. by Fillimore & Thrif. Also found a list for a Wm MACKBEE who emig. to America in 1732 (Psgr & Immig.Lists Index,Vol2 H-N) Filby & Lower.
