Can anyone tell me the Irish origins of the name "Maurice"? I have several male ancestors named Maurice and can't quite figure it out... Thank you Barb
From the Book of Irish Names again: Maurice, used in Ireland among the Anglo Normans. It was from the native Irish Muirgheas, "se-choice". Moss and Mossy are diminutives.
