    3. You did not give the time frame so I will tell you of the records. You can do it yourself at familysearch.org, then Family History Library, then Family History Library Catalog. Just looking for Mayo will not give you much but by going to the individual parishes you will find the church records and the 1901 census. Registration of non-Catholic marriages began in 1845 in Ireland. Registration of births, marriages and deaths, regardless of religion, began January 1, 1864. Certificates for births, marriages and deaths for all of Ireland until 1922 and for the Republic since 1922 are housed in Dublin. Belfast has the records for Northern Ireland from 1922 to present in addition to the all Ireland records from 1864-1922. Do a frequency and distribution of the surnames by using The Householders Index, (FHLC#919,001-7) a surname index of tax records in Griffith's Primary Valuation and Tithe Applotment Books or the CD-ROM Index to Griffith's Valuation. Griffith's identifies people between 1840 and 1864. Tithe Applotment covers the period of 1820 to 1840. This gets you to the parish level. These records give the names of the individuals (heads of households only), where they lived, the acreage, and the value of the land and building. These records do not give specific information about ages, birthplaces, and other members of the family. However, they point to the parish to search for baptismal and marriage information.
