Hi Brian, My gr-gr grandfather was James Lavelle born in Co. Mayo Ireland about 1825. He died on March 13,1880. He is buried in St Michaels Cemetery in the Town of Mitchell near Sheboygan, Wisconsin USA. He married Ann Cummins born in Ireland about 1830. She died 4/12, 1909 and is buried next to James. James and Ann had 5 children all born in Wisconsin. One of the children Alice was my great grandmother who married my gr- grandfather Martin Hanahan. I am not sure if My Lavells are related to you or not. They came from the same area. Do you have any Hanahans or Bowens in your family tree. If we can make a connection with our Lavelles I may be able to find more information. We are going to Ireland in September. We were in Ireland a couple of years ago and did a lot of research on the Hanahans which took us to Tourmakeady, Mayo Co. Ireland. This year we will be mainly in the southwest but also in Monahan and Dublin. I can still do a lot of research for Mayo while I'm in Dublin. I have no Lavelles in my family but I know that they come mainly from the Achill Island area in West Mayo. It's worth doing a GOOGLE search with the words Achill and Lavelle together.
