Dear MaryPat, You are wonderful! Would you look for OWEN MEERS (MEARS, MAIRS, MYERS) He was born about 1795 in Shanaghy (Ardnaree), Kilmoremoy Parish which was in Co. Sligo until 1898, and after that in Co. Mayo He married ANN NAUGHTON probably about 1815 and probably in Shanaghy. They had at least 3 children: JOHN MEERS (MYERS) born 1817, left for Maine, USA in 1846, married ELLEN HOLLAND, probably about 1846, probably in Shanaghy. PATRICK MEERS (MYERS) born 1824, left for Maine 1851, married MARY LYONS, born 1834 in Ireland. They married in Calais, Maine in 1855. EUGENE (OWEN) MEERS born about 1836 in Shanaghy. Probably stayed in Ireland. "Owen Meers" shows up on the Griffith's Valuation for the Kilmoremoy area. There is no date. If it is early (1835-55) it would be my great great grandfather and you would have helped us push over the great wall between the present day American family and the present day Irish family. We have already proven the connection with DNA tests. If the Owen Meers is the son, Eugene, of Owen, then he is probably my gguncle and the progenitor of the Irish family, but we would not have a paper connection.
