After you have the marriage license, go to the church records. In many parishes, the priest included the parents' names. My uncle was the informant for his mother's death record but he did not know her mother's name. I then ordered the death recors of her siblings and, fortunately, their sons knew the name and were in agreement. The names of parents is very important to differentiate among the redundant Irish names! Here in St. Louis, only if you were under age did a parent or guardian's name appear on a marriage record. This has changed in the past twenty years or so. On death records, only if the informant at death knew the parents names were they listed.
