Hi Bob, Thanks for responding. I am familiar with Cloughans, as in the old and new Cloughans cemeteries located about 100 m. east of the eastern shore of Lough Conn in Backs parish. Mark and Anne Breslin, who run the only retail business in Corroy, a small newsstand, and a relative of my HANAHOEs, believe that Michael, my Catherine CLARKE's husband, and his father, Thomas, who died in the 1870-85 timeframe at the age 104, are buried in the "Old" cemetery. That cemetery is in one of the worst conditions I have ever seen. Mark said he was in the team who cleaned it up about 10-12 years ago and estimates it would take a 4 man team a weekend or two to repeat the same. I am told that there are "many" HANAHOEs up in the vicinity of Pittston, PA however, I am under the impression that they trace their roots back to Crossmolina."WE" may be ultimately able to do that but not for now. I have been unable to get beyond the 1830ies in that parish, however, I have not commissioned a comprehensive report from the North Mayo Family History Centre yet. Now that I have the name of a possible brother of my Catherine , namely your "Ned" Edward Clarke, I am, hopefully, closer to getting a handle on who her parents were. BTW, my great-grandfather, Catherine CLARKE's youngest son, who was born in 1844 was named Patrick Clarke Hanahoe... the name combination runs in both of our families ;-). She is believed to be the daughter of Ned (Edward) Clarke and Ann Bourns, both born in Cloughans Townland, Knockmore Parish, County Mayo. She may have a brother, John Clarke. John Walsh, born 7 March 1837, is the son of Patt Walsh, died 1892, and Mary Ormsby. I believe Anne Clarke was born about March 1837 in Carrawvaneen, Backs/Knochmore Parish, County Mayo. I would be more then happy to exchange information. As you can see, my information is very sketchy. Most of the family settled in Scranton, PA. I have been trying to get a handle on Anne Clarke and hope that you might have the right answers. May North Family History could not come up with much information concerning her, and really are not certain that the information they furnished me is correct. Would appreciate hearing from you . One further note, Anne Clarke is the mother of my grandfather, Patrick Clarke Walsh, of that I am certain. Thanks. Bob Walsh "Brian M. They lived in Corroy on land which is now owned by a family named Armstrong. Your ANN, by her probable age, looks like she could have been a niece of my Catherine. Michael died in 1847 precipitating the emigration of his widow and four of their five children to Reading, PA by the late 1860ies. What do you know of Ann CLARKE's parents if anything?
