I've used FHC films of birth indexes and parish registers to track down births and marriages but don't know where to start looking when trying to find details on deaths. I've had a look at the FHC catalogue, but haven't seen anything that obviously looks like indexes for death certificates, have I just missed it? Are there other sources I can use? I don't really know where to start, especially as I have no idea of the years I want either! Any pointers would be appreciated - Thanks Shelagh
The Deaths are indexed and in the FHLC. Information is sparse; name, age, townland, cause as reported by informant, informant and relationship. No parents, spouse, date of birth. Registration of births, marriages and deaths, regardless of religion, began January 1, 1864. Certificates for births, marriages and deaths for all of Ireland until 1922 and for the Republic since 1922 are housed in Dublin. Belfast has the records for Northern Ireland from 1922 to present in addition to the all Ireland records from 1864-1922.
