Hi ! Saw the list and joined today, in hopes someone can help with the "brick-wall" of my G-g'father: William Phelps MAYO from Platte County Mo. (b.1870) m. Emma WEST Mayo from Ellis County Tx (b.1880) both buried in Tx., had son Lawrence H. Mayo (b.1899) in Collin County Tx. m. Gretchen FITZHUGH (b.1904) from Hood County Tx. where both are buried. Gretchen's family was connected back to Stewart County Tenn. and arrived in Dorchester County MD. in the 1680s. Emma WEST Mayo's parents (George and Sarah/Rachel WEST) came from Tenn. and are both buried in Texas also, but I cannot find out who the parents of William Phelps MAYO were, who his siblings might have been, or where they or his parents are buried. Family legend says they were acquainted with the family of Jesse James in Mo., but no way to tell for sure.
