    1. [MAYO] MALONEY GALLAGHER
    2. Hi all: I am also looking for a connection to the GALLAGHERS. My gggrandmother was Sarah GALLAGHER, married in Irelandto Michael MALONEY. Their eldest son Patrick was born Dec 22, 1847 in County Mayo, Ireland. Second son John was born in New York in 1851. Other children were Ellen, Sarah, Rose and Michael. By 1860 they were in Wisconsin, perhaps in the Rockford area and eventually in Erin Prairie, St. Croix County. Michael is buried there, died 1882; (his tombstone says born Mayo Ireland), but there is no sign of Sarah. There are no death certificates and the burial records were lost in a church fire. I don't know how to get them back to a town land or parish in Ireland. When I try to match Gallagher with Maloney in Griffiths there are only a couple, but when you add in all the various spellings for Maloney, the list grows. Can I trust that MALONEY is what I should be looking for? Bev

    1. Re: [MAYO] SHIEL_DUNLEAVY
    2. Thank you Jack......... John Gallagher. son of Patrick, possibly born/ baptized Dec. 1852, Cloonagaloon, Meelick/Kilconduff, Mayo/ married Bridget Dunleavy, daughter of Anthony baptized possibly 1857, Meelick, Kilconduff Mayo ,, April 1878 at Chapel / Church of the Holy Spirit in the Village of Heckmondwike, ( Dewsbury) Yorkshire, delivering two sons, James Gallagher b.1879 and Thomas Gallagher b. 1881...... John Gallagher and Bridget Dunleavy are my paternal GG parents, James Gallagher ,my GF and Thomas Gallagher is believed to have passed shortly after birth.... Bridget Dunleavy Gallagher died at the age of 26 years in the local workhouse circa 1883..James Gallagher was raised by the remaining Dunleavy family. John Gallagher abandoned his son James to the Dunleavy family and traveled to the USA stopping briefly in Philadelphia at a relative, Mary Gallagher and continuing on to St Louis ,MO where it is said that he remarried and fathered 5 sons while working in some type of law enforcement situation....believed by many to have been prison corrections officer. It is also reported( family lore) that he was slain while working by a criminal type...Nothing to this day, has confirmed any of this... I do have a confirmation for a killing of a John Gallagher on the Municipal Pier in Chicago by a George Ramsey...Any one having anything to add to this saga is welcomed... Gallagher; Mayo: Cloonagaloon, Cloongullaun, Meelick, Kilconduff, Glynn:Lislackagh..
