    3. Because people will be seeking our information online for many years to come, it is important to show a SUBJECT that accurately reflects the content of your posting for the Archives of this list, where it will be saved. We should not be in the business of "following threads" -- but in the business of accurate research! Also, as many of us are very busy and have many lists and messages, you would be wasting a lot of time of a lot of people by listing a SURNAME in your SUBJECT that is not written about in the text of your message, and causing readers to waste the time of opening and reading uselessly -- rather than quickly deleting a message that has nothing of interest for them. Why have all these had Whelan in the subject when the only surname mentioned is Gavin?

    2. In my youth ( a few years ago now ) I was baby sat by a neighbour, Dennis Hoban in Craigneuk, Wishaw. Dennis went on to become a Catholic priest, but sadly succumbed to a tropical disease while serving in Africa at a young age. His niece ( I think that's the relationship ) is the famous soprano, Marie McLaughlan who's mother is a Hoban. (Just on an "I kent his faither" note, Marie sang at my wedding in 1965 (clue to my lost youth there!) long before Prince Charles made it fashionable to have world famous classical singers at his wedding!!!)
