    1. [MAYO] "Old Guard" IRA
    2. I have reason to believe that my father was a member of the "Old Guard" IRA. He was born in 1903 and left Ireland in 1924. He never spoke of any activity in Ireland but wouldn't go back to Ireland until 1971. Are there any records on IRA activity during the civil war there? Thanks. Nora

    1. [MAYO] re McGreaveys of Mayo
    2. James Brennan
    3. Need some help with my McGreavey's. On 28 May 1866 in Westport Mayo, John McGreavey and Bridget Casey had a daughter Mary. I would like to correspond with any descendants of that family. My Grgrgrandparents Owen McGreavey and Mary Stanton claim to have come from Mayo, but I have never been able to connect them to Mayo. Maybe this John and Bridget family were kin to my McGreaveys. 3. Linda, I can't promise you results - but you might want to check where the majority of Irish in Marlboro, NJ originated from in Ireland. That might give you a starting place to look. Here in Cleveland, OH the majority of Irish came from Co. Mayo and especially Achill Island. From what I understand whole villages might pack up and move to America all at once. And I have the feeling that once someone came to a certain area word was sent back and others would follow and resettle in a give area here in the US. So, check out with the city or county historical society and see if you can find where most of the Irish in your area came from - I'll bet you will find the birthplace of your Thomas Coyne. Good luck! Paet........
