    3. Hi Paula and Maynard List. I'm investigating this particular Maynard line as being the ancestors of my Nancy Maynard born 1806, possibly in TN or NC. Family oral tradition speculates that our Maynards started of in North Carolina after migrating here from ? England / Germany / Ireland ?. I was thinking that there might be a connection through Gibson Maynard's daughter, Nancy.... but his Nancy was born about 15 years earlier than my Nancy. Anybody able to point me in the right direction ? By the time My Nancy shows up in a White County TN 1840 and 1850 census, Most of her children are married and some dispersed to other middle TN counties. I would just love to know who the parents and siblings of Nancy Maynard b~1806 were. Any help / insight / advise .... would be greatly appreciated. Parents could be William or James Maynard and Elizabeth D. Jo. Lewis married Tabitha Edwards>>> I found a Lewis Maynard in a recently acquired 865 book. Unfortunately, he is only mentioned briefly. I've included the information on his father, as stated in the book (source at bottom) : James Maynard and First Family (pg. 11-12) James Maynard, our oldest known ancestor was b. in Virginia in the year 1750. The exact location in Va. is not known but many believe the birthplace was near the Va.-N.C. border. He d. 13 Oct. 1852 in Wayne Co., W. V. at age 102. We have no record as to who his parents were nor do we know the name of his first wife. His brothers were William, Christopher Columbus and, possibly, Gibson. No record of other brothers or sisters have been found nor the date that he went from Va., to N. C. He was a private in the Rev. War in N. C. While living in N.C., he was baptized into the Roaring River Baptist Church, 12 FEB 1791. In Kentucky Historical Society, on microfilm, it states that James Maynard and Christopher C. Maynard were members of that church. The children in his first marriage were as follows, all born in Wilkes Co., NC: 1. Delilah b. 1782 2. Lewis b. ca. 1784<<<<<<think this might be your ancestor 3. Jesse b. ca. 1790 4. Charles b. ca. 1794 5. Mary "Polly" b. ca. 1795 (Below is the only other mention of him in this book... it seems to conflict with your account of Lewis m. to Harriet TAYLOR in 1828. What do you think???) 2. Lewis MAYNARD b. 1784; m. Tabitha EDWARDS b. ca 1783, NC. The 1850 census of Madison Co., Richlands Township states: MAYNARD, Lewis 68, b. NC farmer Tabitha 67, b.
