Egghead.com is one of the largest on line stores there is and they are a bunch of crooks. We just bought a new IBM monitor from them, and it turned out that it was not new, not IBM,and didn't work. It was made in 1994, and had been refurbished. They are taking it back and say they will return our money. I will keep you informed to that. PLEASE FORWARD TO YOUR LISTS!!!! My grandfather was Lloyd Horace Maynard, born in Lepanto, AR. He had 2 brothers, Lewis Maynard and Luther Maynard and I think 1 sister (possibly Lois) but not sure. There parents were Lewis Henderson Maynard (born in Arkansas) and Rosie Lee Smith (born in Missouri). Lewis was 54 and Rosie was 28 when my grandfather was born. My grandfather's birth certificate shows that he was the 6th child born to Rosie so I don't know if the other 5 were Lewis' or not (possibly Lois was one of the 5). Luther and Lewis were both younger than my grandfather. That's about all I know about them. I am really at a dead end with the Maynard line and would definitely appreciate even a direction to go in. Thanks. Jonnie
Hi, Kathi, Nope, I have no Southern Maynards. Mine seem to have stayed in New York the whole time. My father's given name was Maynard so named after his mother's maiden name. I see you were once a Maynard so each of us has Maynards near to our generation. Good luck in your search. By the way, I've been on the Maynard list for quite a while and the note I replied to a few days ago was my first "hit" on the list. There seem to be lots and lots of Maynards out there! I'm interested in Tom. I wish I knew how to attach from PAF or Ancestral File but I don't so I'll copy a wee bit of what I have: The 1790 census lists a John and Stephen in Bedford, WC, NY and Isaiah in Harrison Purchase. John, Stephen and Thomas are mentioned in the Bedford Historical Records. There is no documentattion at this time to prove they were or were not related to Isaiah. Bedford Historical Records: The 1763 list of freeholders: John, Cordwainer; Thomas, Yeoman. Copy of a tax list for Bedford taken 31 Mar 1779: John Mainerd and Thomas Mainerd's estate. ( Do you have a dod for Tom?) Both references are in V5. In Vol V11, Bedford Soldiers of the Revolution and Freeholders, Taxpayers and Heads of Families, 1763 - 1790, men are identified by the following: 1763, Freeholders List; 1779, Tax List; 1784, Bedford Town Meeting and 1790, US Census. Service in the Rev. indicated by listing in "New York in the Revolution" or DAR Patriot Index, by pension records, or by mention in the "McDonald Papers" or similiar sources. The military service for the Maynards is also in Roberts "NY in the Revolution" so I assume that was the source for John and Stephen: John Maynard, 2nd Regt. WC Militia, Land Bounty rights, cordwainer; 1763 and 1779. (not listed on this record, he is on the 1790 census as residing in Bedford; died in 1804 and according to land records, was married to Sarah ____.No Children mentioned in his will) Stephen Maynard, 2nd Reg. WC Militia, US census 1790. Not listed as a freeman or on tax rolls in 1763. Appears he was young during the war. Thomas Maynard, 1763. He may have been Stephen's father and Isaiah's brother. Do you think there could have been 2 Toms or did Tom have property in both counties? Now that I have confused the issue, I'll say good night. Let's keep hunting. On 1790 census, Harrison Purchase. Supposed to have had two brothers, Thomas and John. THey are listed in Bedford. Thomas might have been his father; he is mentioned in HIstory of Bedford but died before the census. Isaiah needs to have been born somewhere with 2 parents. Anyone have any ideas? I am trying to research my gggrandmother Mary Jane Maynard. I don't know too much about her. I do know that Mary Jane Maynard married Manning Ware on January 3, 1839 in Sudberry, Rutland,Vermont. Mary Jane and Manning's daughter Martha born October 10, 1848 is my ggrandmother. I believe that Martha was born in Vermont. The family moved to Ashtabula Co. Ohio( I am not sure when) and Martha marries in Ashtabula Co. Any information about Mary Jane Maynard's ancestry would be appreciated. Thanks, Jim Taylor of Warren, Ohio
