Hi! First, my thanks to all who helped last year with suggestions on Plymouth Colony books and information about our ancestors. Your contributions helped to make our Early American History course come alive. My sons thoroughly enjoyed examining the lives of their ancestors and the roles that they played in shaping Plymouth Colony (or not in some cases). Currently, I am investigating the role of the different religious groups and the role that they played in the shaping of the colony. I am particularly interested in the following groups: 1. Puritans 2. Quakers 3. The Wampanoag tribe 4. Familists 5. Baptists 6. Separatists 7. Anglicans 8. Any other group not listed here. We are looking for any laws made concerning religion, any punishments concerning religion and why these punishments were given, how these punishments were received by those accused and by those in the community, the belief systems of the groups, why different churches/religious groups were formed in the colony, how the belief systems of the various groups effected their social structure/family life, etc. Any info is greatly appreciated. Our Mayflower ancestors are Richard Warren and Elizabeth (through Elizabeth) and Elizabeth Tilley and John Howland (through both Desire and Hope). Any info regarding our ancestors, especially as it pertains to the above research, is also welcome. Any help would be greatly appreciated. IHG, Cathy Boyle
