I am looking for a transcription of the will of Samuel Brewster, b. c. 1697, son of William Brewster and Patience Read, of Lebanon, CT. My questions concern Samuel, his son, Samuel, b. 1729 and his grandson, Samuel, b. c. 1750. Someone had mentioned to me that the elder Samuel's will made curious reference to his son Samuel's children, from which it might be inferred that some of them were not legitimate. In this will Samuel left the double share which would ordinarily have gone to son Samuel to grandson Samuel. Son Samuel was a grantee in 1760 at Cornwallis, Kings Co., Nova Scotia. The grandson did not accompany his father from CT, but remained in Lebanon. At the death of the elder Samuel, son Samuel did receive his share and the grandson received nothing. All this is gleaned from others, and I would like to read the wording of the will, if anyone is willing to share. Recent findings in New Brunswick have clarified the marriage and death of son Samuel's son, Alexander, from whom I descend. Straightening out the family of son Samuel has been the last brick wall in my work, so that I now have every ancestor back to the immigrant except for those wives for whom no maiden name is available. It has taken me more than 50 years. Joanne Hunt Litchfield, NH
