Wow, this discussion sounds more like it's about Dr. Seuss than the Mayflower! There are of course many men and women in all of our Mayflower heritages with names like Barzilla (female) or Barzillai (male), Theophilus and Eliphalet and Jerusha and Ozias. Then there are those names that the first/last combo just kind of rolls off the tongue or makes us laugh -- "Puella Hussey" or "Mehitable Handy Noonan." There's also Yelverton Crowell and Camp Addams and Thankful Watrous and Liberty Bartlett -- no Mayflower connections (yet...I don't think...are there??), but cool names nonetheless! However, the unusually named Mayflower descendant who is nearest and dearest to my heart is my own late father, Cassius Bartlett Barnes, Jr., descendant of Hopkins and Brewster, who was the last in a long line of men named "Cassius" in our family. To distinguish from his father, my Dad was called by his middle name as a child, and so his full first/middle/last name was known to the other kids. Unfortunately for my poor Dad, the schoolyard rhyming possibilities for the name "Cassius Bartlett" are quite obvious -- and thus my brother (his only son) is named Tom! :-) Kathy Fenton Virginia Beach, VA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "I am accustomed to hearing malicious falsehoods about myself...but I think I have a right to object to libelous statements about my dog." -- Franklin D. Off topic (no known Mayflower link), but I'm going to say it and then butt out... My all-time favorite is Preserved Fish. Bette Bradway
