    3. Hi, I am very interested in the Leonard/Dodge connection you mentioned. I have some info on "A" Johnathan Leonard and "A" Sarah Dodge (not as a couple). First; If it would help you to possibly rule a Johnathan out, I have the following info on a Johnathan Leonard descended from Solomon; Johnathan (Joseph3, Jacob2, Solomon1) b. July 29, 1734 in Bridgewater; d. 1804 m. 1758 to Martha Washburn, daughter of Benjamin Washburn and Martha Kingman. This Johnathan had a twin named David who spent some time in Nova Scotia in the 1750's and married Mary Hall from Taunton. I am descended from David. This info is from "Memorial of William Spooner, 1637 and of his Descendants to the Third Generation; of his Great Grandson, Elnathan Spooner and of his Descendants, to 1871." by Thomas Spooner - Appendix B "Leonard Family" Note: Mr. Spooner was married to 2 Leonard sisters(one after the first died)hence his interest in the line. The same info is contained in a handwritten copy of Leonard family bible entries from the family bible of Rev. Zenus Lockwood Leonard. Copy made by Rev. Francis Whitefield Emmons (married to Rev. Leonard's daughter)Feb. 20, 1865 for Mr. Spooner's use in his complied geneology. Second; In my Dunn line from Annapolis I have the following re; a Sarah Dodge descended from Richard More; Susanna Knowlton (Susanna Dutch3, Susanna More2,Richard More1)b. March 16, 1714 in Wenham MA; d. June__1788 in Granville,Annapolis, NS m. on March 30, 1739 to Capt, Josiah Dodge. Children: Josiah, SUSANNA, Rhoda, SARAH, Asahel, Benjamin, Phebe, Eunice, and Mary. I am descended from Susanna Dodge who married Isreal Fellows, their daughter Susanna married Edward Dunn. Is your Sarah Dodge the sister of my Susanna Dodge? Suggestion for you - the Dunns started out in Barnstable, MA along with the Chase, Kelley, and Baker families - ALL of whom ended up going to Annapolis,NS by about 1765 and living near each other mostly in and near Granville. You might want to take a look at the Barnstable area for evidence of your Leonards' earlier roots as a fair number of families that went to Granville,NS seem to have "landed" there first. As I am descended from both the Bridgewater and the Taunton Leonards via a marriage of cousins, I would be interested in what you find about them possibly being part of a Mayflower line. I hope some of this is useful to you. He married Sarah Dodge(b. 24 May 1749, Lunenberg, Worcester Co., Mass.) on 1 Nov 1764, in Granville, N.S. Sarah Dodge is the great great granddaughter of Richard More of the Mayflower. He would have immigrated to Nova Scotia with the New England Planters 1760-1764. The History of the county of Annapolis says about him;"He was at one time possessed of 1000 acres of the best land in the township of Granville, which he disposed of at the time of the arrival of the Loyalists and removed to the Paradise District, where he built one of the first sawmills in the township, and died in 1812(May 4). It is probable he served in the expedition against Louisburg in 1758." I have seen his parents listed as Joseph Lenord and Hannah Jennings in various family trees on the internet but none of them list any sources for their information. The History of the county of Annapolis also gives two possible ancestors for him. They were both from Wales, Solomon Leonard who was with the pilgrams in Leyden and Thomas Leonard an early immigrant from Pontypool who settled in Taunton, Mass. I would be grateful for any help you could give me....Keith Lightizer

The Bridgewater LEONARD family is descended from James CHILTON of the "Mayflower". The immigrant, Solomon LEONARD, married Sarah CHANDLER, daughter of Roger and Isabella (CHILTON) CHANDLER, and granddaughter of James CHILTON. For details, see the Silver Book for Chilton.
