Dear Listmembers, I am looking for the parents of Jonathan Stewart Leonard, born in Lyme, Connecticutt in 1741. He married Sarah Dodge(b. 24 May 1749, Lunenberg, Worcester Co., Mass.) on 1 Nov 1764, in Granville, N.S. Sarah Dodge is the great great granddaughter of Richard More of the Mayflower. He would have immigrated to Nova Scotia with the New England Planters 1760-1764. The History of the county of Annapolis says about him;"He was at one time possessed of 1000 acres of the best land in the township of Granville, which he disposed of at the time of the arrival of the Loyalists and removed to the Paradise District, where he built one of the first sawmills in the township, and died in 1812(May 4). It is probable he served in the expedition against Louisburg in 1758." I have seen his parents listed as Joseph Lenord and Hannah Jennings in various family trees on the internet but none of them list any sources for their information. The History of the county of Annapolis also gives two possible ancestors for him. They were both from Wales, Solomon Leonard who was with the pilgrams in Leyden and Thomas Leonard an early immigrant from Pontypool who settled in Taunton, Mass. I would be grateful for any help you could give me....Keith Lightizer
