    3. Schani - There may be controversy on the Web, but I don't think there is much among scholars concerning Experience Mitchell's wives or children. Because son Thomas inherited Cooke land he and Elizabeth were Jane's children (I'm descended a couple of ways from Elizabeth through the Washburns). Hannah was born too late to be Jane's daughter. There is no proof who was the mother of Mary, Sarah, Jacob, Edward and John and as far as I know the GSMD does not accept those five as Cooke descendants (although some people believe that Mary was Jane's daughter). See: "Not All the Children of Experience Mitchell Are Mayflower Descendants," by Robert S. Wakefield, TAG, v. 59, pp. 28-31 "Comments on the Two Wives of Experience Mitchell of Plymouth, Mass.," by John B. Threlfall, NEHGR, v. 127, pp. 94-95 Sarah Mitchell m. before 23-Apr-1661 (MD 2:92) John Hayward (son of Thomas and Susanna Towne, and often called "John of the Plains" in Bridgewater records). Their son John Hayward m. about 1698 (MD 5:250) Susanna Edson (Samuel, Samuel, Thomas). Their daughter Sarah Hayward m. 1st 10-Jan-1721/2 (MD 16:186) Josiah Winslow (Josiah, Kenelm, Kenelm), and had 5 children by him. She m. 2nd 22-Jan-1745/6 (Bridgewater VR 2:394) Edward Wentworth (son of John and Martha). Since this is not my line I don't have primary source citations for all of it, but I could email what I have down to Sarah and Josiah Winslow. Dale H.
