This is in response to the mention of no silver book for John Howland. Elizabeth White is the past editor of the Mayflower Quarterly, and has been the trustee/chairman/president of several other geneaological groups. She was asked by the Society many years ago to do this project with a projection of about five years to complete. At the time, this was acceptable. She is not working alone--Edwin Coles is currently working with her on volume three as he did for for vol. 1 & 2. Roberta Bratti has also assisted. Mrs. White's husband is an invalid now, so this has slowed things down as you can imagine. However, vol. 3, desc's of Hope is nearing completion. It is over 1000 pages! Compare that to vol. 1, desc's of John Jr--under 500 pages! Hope is near or at the top for the 10 Howland children for desc's. For years Mrs. White has been sending 3-8 page articles from the upcoming book on Hope's desc's for publication in the Howland Quarterly so some of the info is out there. (Please do not ask me to look up Hope info--the HQ's are not indexed--unfortunately. This is another project) It would be very difficult for someone to "start over" with desc's books for Howland. It would take alot of time just to catch up to the vast amount of knowledge Mrs. White has and to get up to speed. Any volunteers out there? I do NOT mean to sound harsh--I know you were not blaming her. I know the frustrations of waiting for genealogical material--none of us want to wait! Myself included!! Just please know this huge vol. is nearing completion. I have no dates yet. Please be patient. Gail Adams Editor of the Howland Quarterly
