    1. [MFLR] Elizabeth Gibbs, wife of Samuel Muxom of Rochester

    3. Does anyone know whether or not the Society of Mayflower Descendant still accepts Elizabeth Gibbs, wife of Samuel Muxom of Rochester, as a daughter of Thomas Gibbs & Joanna Swift? She is said to have descended from Richard Warren through: Richard, Nathaniel, Jane (m. Thomas Gibbs), Thomas Gibbs (Jr.) m. Joanna Swift, Elizabeth. I have found (with the help of others) three different contemporary records that indicate that the wife of Samuel Muxom was NOT the daughter of Thomas Gibbs & Joanna Swift. She was instead a daughter of John Gibbs & Judith Bates. I have drafted a short article for the Mayflower Descendant, but I want to check with others first to make sure I am not "covering old ground." BTW I cannot remember off-hand if Richard Warren has his own 5 generation book or if the most recent edition is still the "In Progress" edition? I do believe the full five generation book has not been published. Ray

But I'm confused (what's new?). What Judith Bates and John Gibbs is this? The only Judith Bates I have found so far is one who is listed in MD 29:30 as marrying JOB Bates. Then MD 4:106 has a daughter Elizabeth for this couple--that is Job and Judith, born Aug. 15, 1706. I have marriage intentions for Samuel Muxom and Elizabeth Gibbs as Sep. 18, 1736, Rochester VR 2:136. Is that the right couple? This would mean Elizabeth married at age 30. Then I have children born at least until Samuel, Sep. 12, 1748 (Rochester VR 211) and somehow I've also got an Ezra, before June 9, 1751, whatever that means--I don't have a source listed for that. Perhaps it was some article. I respect any desire you have to wait for publication to explain the whole thing, but would you be willing to tell me if I have the right people here? The age for Elizabeth at marriage and for the last birth, whichever that was, is easily possible, but seems a little unusual, so I'm wondering if you've accounted for this not quite anomaly if indeed this is the right set of people. Also, are the dates from MD and the Rochester VR correct (if these are the right people)? I don't believe you'd be saying this if you weren't quite certain, and I don't believe you'd be certain without very good reason, so I'm eagerly awaiting the whole story. But for now, have I got the right people here?
