The current discussion of names used by the descendants of Mayflower passengers has fanned an ember of curiosity in the Genferret's tiny brain. Around 1800, give or take quite a lot, exotic names like Lorenzo, Perez, Roswell, and so on, appear. To the Genferret these sound as though they may have come out of the gothic novels which were popular among humans in the later eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, much as humans today name their kits for soap opera or sit-com characters.
