Fay, a retired Universalist minister, died Tuesday afternoon at her home, 441 Greene Avenue, of apoplexy. Mrs. Fay was born in New York September 11, 1821, her father being Stephen Smith, a well known ship builder. She was a widow when she married Dr. Fay in 1851. She is survived by her husband and four daughters, Mrs. William A. Sutton, Mrs. Henry Brewster, Mrs. C.S.Harris and Mrs.I.F.Cooper. The Rev. J. Coleman Adams, pastor of All Souls Universalist Church, will conduct the funeral services this evening at 8 o'clock, at her late home. The burial will take place tomorrow morning in Greenwood Cemetery. Source: Brooklyn Eagle; Date: 1898 Dec. 16; Section: None; Page Number: 3 I have a question about this obituary. How did you make the connection that this Betsey Ann Fay is actually Betsey Ann Smith? There is nothing in this article to even indicate that she was previously married to Elisha Blossom, nor was there a mention of a deceased daughter Mary Ann. I suppose you must have it, but with the bio you provided for this family there was nothing to indicate a second marriage for Betsey Ann. You said you were trying to track her father for DAR reasons, but I don't see this obituary even making any kind of connection to the Blossom family at all. Therefore, I would, if I were reading newspaper obits, skip this obituary as there was no mention of the family Blossom in the article. I had tracked the Loring and Pope lines down to Joshua Loring and Innocent Pope when I was searching through the History of Hingham looking for all Hingham families that were connected to my Joy family, so I had the line down to Loshua and Innocent, but hadn't taken the line down any further. With your posting, I was able to extend the line down a few more generations. Innocent Pope is a 5th cousin. That makes Agnes Hubbard a 10th cousin. Since you didn't take your line past Agnes down to you, I'm not sure what kind of cousin you might be to me. If you would communicate to me privately your line from Agnes Hubbard and Fred Wetherbee, I'd certainly like to add your information to my database. If anyone is still living, please so indicate as I will, or you can, put the death date of after 2006 for those folks, including yourself. I have added your first name and email address as a researcher on this line so that if I come across some information or have questions in the future I can contact you. Christie Trapp
