David Carver (1669-1727) and Ruth Whitmarsh (1677-). Does anyone have her date of death and place? I can probably make the presumption that it was in Canterbury, Windham, CT, but I have nothing listed. I have three children listed for this couple. They may have had more, but I've only got three in my database. Ruth Sarah Samuel In Kendall Mellem's Descendants of William Ford, which is a working draft by the author as of 2002 and I believe it was also recorded on the following website: _http://aleph0.clarku.edu/~djoyce/gen/report/rr01/rr01_041_ (http://aleph0.clarku.edu/~djoyce/gen/report/rr01/rr01_041) which covers the family of Millicent Ford and John Carver Family they say that Ruth was born Dec 10, 1700. Gave no date for Sarah and gave Samuel as Nov. 4, 1704. On the website it had this to say about Sarah: Sarah, perhaps identical with Ruth, d. 9 Aug. 1731, m. 2 Mar 1720 Rev. Solomon Paine (b. 1698 in Eastham, MA, lived at Canterbury, CT, minister of the Separatist Church, d. 1754). Now, in Hopkins 6:177 it gives Sarah Carver who married Solomon Paine to be Ruth and provides a date of birth in Weymouth as 14 Dec. 1701, gives date of death as 9 Aug 1731 and being the daughter of David and Ruth (Whitmarsh) Carver. It also has this to say about Ruth: Prob. scrivener's error is the reference to her as "Sarah" in rec. of bp. of eldest child. I don't know who scrivener is, unless it is really using the word as a term that means transcriber's error rather than as some author. Any help on this word? If the date of birth for Ruth is 1700 and Sarah is 1701, how can there be any confusion? They are clearly a year apart. However, if it is a transcription error and that Ruth was Sarah or visa versa and they are actually one and the same person, does that mean that I should eliminate the name as Sarah in my database as a member of the family and use Ruth for the wife of Solomon Paine with an aka as Sarah so that this will correspond with other sources which reference Ruth as Sarah? This would then reduce the number of children of David and Ruth to just Ruth and Samuel. What does the Weymouth VR have to say? In the death record for Ruth/Sarah as the wife of Solomon Paine, what does it say? Does anyone have more children for David Carver and Ruth Whitmarsh besides Ruth/Sarah and Samuel? If so, would like to have those so I can add to my database. Christie Trapp
