I would like to join the Mayflower Society. However, I'm stuck at my grgrgrgrandfather Phillip Terry. I know that his line is in the Sliver book, and I'm sure that my grgrgrandmother was his daughter Phebe Terry. I know when she was born and when (1880) she died in NY, but I can't find her birth record or copy of her death record to prove her parents. I am a member of DAR and you can send to them and get a copy of someone else who has joined on your line. My question is. Does the Mayflower have a record of people who have joined and their ancestors? Thanks. M.E. You said it was in the Silver Books. Which one? I have the Bradford book that covers the first 7 generations but Phoebe or Phillip are not mentioned in the book. I have a Mayflower line that goes through Mary Kellogg Terry to William Bradford so I know the Terry family are descendants. Mary descends from Ephraim Terry who married Ann Collins. Does the Mayflower have a record of people who have joined and their ancestors? ______________________ Over 75,000 persons have joined the Society since its inception in 1897. All of those who have joined, and their lineages, are indexed in files at the Mayflower Society headquarters. Therefore it is possible to send a synopsis of your line to them and they will check to see if they have a previously approved, well documented paper which matches yours. If one is found, you will be sent a copy and will be able to use the sources from that paper, up to the point where your lines branch off. The cost is $10. [Note that the copy you are sent will have the member's information blanked out, as well as that for living persons in the lineage.] This can be extremely helpful to those who are beginning the task of documenting their line for membership. A synopsis should be similar to the form found at www.mayflower.org - in fact, print this out, fill it out and mail it along with the fee to: General Society of Mayflower Descendants P.O.Box 3297, Plymouth, MA 02361.
