Digest subscribers can also request of the list administrator that they receive the digest in the old format, with attachments. I have requested this of all the lists to which I subscribe, and I no longer have to sift through lines and lines of repetition to get to the "meat" of the messages. Lorna in Maine
Lorna, you are absolutely correct! If I had clicked on "Reply All," then there would have been duplicate messages sent back to [email protected] PLUS, there would be the identical posting going to the Message Board. Why, now, when we click on "Reply All" doesn't one copy go to the Mailing List and the other copy go to the very person who posted the message? I still say that the problem is that the Message Boards are "Gatewayed" to the Mailing Lists. They ought to be kept separate! Also, I believe that "they" (whoever "they" are!) should stop advising us to copy the portion of the posting to which we are responding. What ever happened to the age-old idea, which is used in the legal system all over the world, that the most recent event should be at the top, and we should not be so lazy that we cannot look under the person's posting to read what went on before that message? This is the way attorneys and judges put files together, since FOREVER! They put the most recent event or letter or e-mail at the top, and we are supposed to understand that, and we are supposed to always put our response, or rebuttal, or whatever message we want to send at the TOP of the internet exchange. The confusion began when "Someone" began giving us orders to "Copy the portion of the posting to which you are responding and delete the rest. THIS MAKES NO SENSE AT ALL! Let us go back to responding at the very top of a posting, but DO NOT DELETE THE POSTING TO WHICH YOU ARE RESPONDING, or the person or the Message Board, or the Mailing List people will not understand anything that is happening! Also, do not, ever click on "Reply all," because "They" have changed games on us! It used to be that when we reply to a message on a Mailing List, we clicked on "Reply All," and the message went to the Mailing List, and also to the person who posted the message.
