Two discussions of the family that help to shed light on the matter are cited in that article: George Vaughan Chichester Young, "Pilgrim Myles Standish" (Peel, Isle of Man: Mansk-Svenska Publishing Company, 1984). Lawrence Hill, "Gentlemen of Courage-Forward: A History of the Standish Family, Lancashire, from the Norman Conquest in 1066 AD, Within the Context of English History to the Stuart Period" (Alderley Edge, Cheshire, England: Magnolia Publishing Company, 1987). Standish, in his MQ article, appears to agree with Young that Myles was of the Standishes of Standish, that he was possibly born in the family home, (Ellenbane, near Sulby, Isle of Man), and that he certainly knew that home in his youth.
