Some time ago Elizabeth White wrote an article for The Howland Quarterly - Sept. 2001, vol. 66:3 that talks about Jabez and Mary (Newcomb) Dimmock. The first paragraph of the article conflicts with what I have in my database that I got from other sources.? In this article, the very first part gives Jabez Dimmock's lineage as: John Howland Hope Howland Bethiah (Chipman) Gale Jabez Dimmock Okay, I'm fine with Bethiah Chipman being Jabez's mother, but what has me confused is her married surname of Gale, which is apparently her first husband.? How is he, what is his first name, and does the volume provide his vitals & names any children of this couple? Next, it says that Jabez's father is Timothy Dimmock.? In my database I have her married to Shubael Dimmock. Did I miss something?? Has it been determined she married Timothy and not Shubael?? What does this source give for a citation for this marriage? I want to fix my records if I have an error in who she married before I incorporate what this article has to say about Jabez Dimmock and his descendants. Any help will be appreciated. Christie Trapp

Hi Christie, Yes, I have both Elizabeth and Hope but my husband has them under lock and key until Christmas. He is saving them as a part of my gift, otherwise I could check for you. I am *dying* to get into them myself, but he is adamant. Maybe someone else has bought Hope and can actually read it before Christmas.
