    1. Re: [MFLR] Submit Cooke (Francis Cooke silver book #2456)
    2. I have a CD called the Ricker Collection of CT VR. On it there are 3 Submit Porters, all of them born to Noah 2nd and Submit (Cook) Porter in Coventry, CT. 1. b. Feb 12, 1768 d. Feb 14, 1768 2. b. Jan 13, 1771 stillborn 3. b. April 27, 1773 The only other Submit Porter was d. of Abner, b. Dec 13, 1772 in Haddam. I would trust your Bible record, assuming it is clearly written, over the transcription any day. You should get the original record from CT State library and examine it. It is not uncommon for there to be transcription errors. Of course, if your Bible was done in 1912 and it is also a transcription, perhaps from an older one no longer in existence, then possibly it is the one that was mistranscribed. In any event, an examination of the original record seems to be the way to go to me. I believe that the Noah 2nd Porter mentioned above was probably the one who was son of Jonathan and Sarah Lad[d] b. Oct 6, 1742 in Coventry. Jonathan and Sarah were m. June 20, 1734 in Coventry. The only Submit Cook listed was b. Dec 29, 1747 in Coventry, d/o Jesse and Submit (Root). Hope this helps. -------------- Original message from Rodney Jewett <rootsweb@masonmichigan.net>: -------------- > Does anyone have any additional information on the Family of Submit > (Cooke) Porter? > > Here's my situation. > > According to a transcription from a family Bible made about 1912, my > GGGG-grandparents were Eleazer Jewett (born 29 Nov 1769 in Coventry > CT) and Submit Porter (born 27 Apr 1772).
