Any suggestions for published material? ________________ Steve, The first thing you should do is send a synopsis of your line to Plymouth and have them search for a well documented paper. (Send it along with $5 to General Society of Mayflower Descendants, P.O.Box 3297, Plymouth MA 02361.) If they find a previously approved, well documented paper that matches yours they will send you a copy and you can use the sources from that paper up to the point where your lines branch off. This step could take care of your first 5-7 generations if successful. Also, you should be looking primarily at vital records wherever possible. For example, the Browns resided at Swansea, therefore use the Swansea vital records to prove all events that occurred there. If you don't have these, let me know and I'll provide the source citations for you (if you send me the dates, etc.). Check out the web site below where you will find info on the documentation requirements (applicable to each state society) and as well, a link to the web site for the Mayflower FAQ. Susan E. 2. Susan E. Roser
    3. Bill was interested in the passenger lists for the ship "Blessing" and since I found a Mayflower passenger on the first list, and his future wife on the 2nd list, I thought those on the list descended from Richard More might be interested. Apparently Richard went back to England sometime after the 1627 Cattle Division and returned in 1635. Christian Hunter is listed on the 2nd list - he married her the following year, 20 Oct. 1636. Passenger lists are as follows: (Note that the lists are not dated, but appear with those for 1635.) ["Passengers To America, ed. Michael Tepper, GPC, 1988, pg.30 (1st list), 34-5 (2nd list). Roser'" <roser@iprimus.ca> Sent: Wednesday, July 03, 2002 1:08 PM Subject: RE: [PLY/MA] Ship Blessing Susan, I would very much like copies of the complete passenger lists. The ship Blessing is first mentioned in the 1620s. The last mention is after 1700 which is quite a few years for one ship. There may have been two ships named Blessing. Thus, my interest in a description of the Blessing. I know that one ship Blessing was registered out of Plymouth, Devon and worked Devon's western coast. I'm probably telling you more than you are interested in knowing but over the last 12 or so years I have gathered and compiled a rather extensive listing of English Churchill families. Two or three years ago I got the idea of assembling a list of English John Churchills who were of an age to be the John Churchill of the Plymouth Colony. I then began researching each one. In researching a Devon John Churchill (number 8 of 10), I have found indicators that he could be John of Plymouth. Early to mid 17th century the area in which he lived was a hotbed of non-conformist activity. Churchills in the area are documented as non-conformists. Some of these non-conformists were of the very type that later came to be called Congregationalists. (They were Calvinists but not Anabaptist.) This John is related to both Martins and Clarks and the Martins are specifically those who settled at Rehoboth, Plymouth Colony. There are Alice Martins who could be the Alice Martin of the Plymouth Colony wife of George Clark. I am currently trying to determine exactly when the Robert Martin who first settled at Rehoboth actually arrived and exactly who was in his party. I am also interested in his brothers Isaac and Abraham. Basically I want to identify family members and associated people at Rehoboth who may have been with the group or associated with non-conformist activity. I have learned that the ship Blessing may have been Captained for a time by Richard Martin, Robert's youngest brother. Later in time this Richard himself received his brother's land at Rehoboth as heir and settled there. This Richard died at Rehoboth 2 Mar 1694/5. 2. I have several citations in my records that I made several years ago. Due to a conversion from PAF 2.31 to 4.0, a lot of my records became scrambled. I am in the process of updating my records and I noted that I have several mentions to the Mayflower Descendants volumes with just the volume and page number only. I know that what I have would be sufficient enough to locate the article, but I would like to have a more definitive detail for what I found. I was wondering if someone who has the set or access to the set could do a lookup and provide a correct citation; i.e., author, name of article, publisher of the Mayflower Descendants and the date the volume was published. Vol. 29, page 29 Vol. 31, page 14 Vol. 34, page 67 Thanks. Once I know the names of these three articles I can then update my source notes with more details and perhaps even locate the article if I happened to have made a copy. Christie Trapp
