Thanks to everyone who emailed me privately offering info or names of those to contact for info on Pilgrim family societies. I think I have Doty and Warren covered and am now looking for specific info on the following: Allerton Society Billington Society Eaton Society Soule Kindred Thanks, Susan. www.rootsweb.com/~canms/canada.html
In order to prove that Mary4 Doty (Jonathan3, Samuel2, Edward1) married, you will have to produce a marriage record and as well, her father's will which specifically names her with her married name. To date, none of this proof has been found. Best of luck. Susan E. Nancy and Joshua had 11 children: Joshua, > Jacob, Israel, Benjamin, William, Reuben, Nancy, Cynthia, Susan (Sukey), > Zelpha, Eunice. (I've combined your two messages) I suppose you've seen this website: http://www.hampton.lib.nh.us/genealog/index.htm And are familiar with History of Hampton by Joseph Dow. The Vital Records of Hampton have been recently compliled by George Sanborn and Melinde Sanborn and published by the NEHGS in two volumes. I'm not sure weather Seabrook is included and if so for which years. Vol. I has several Eatons, but no Nancy; many Dows, but no Joshua. I'm pretty sure that The Old Families of Salisbury and Amesbury by David W. Hoyt, 1897-1919, has genealogy of the Dow family. How many generations, I don't know. There also was a John Eaton who was an early settler in Salisbury by 1643. So, I suppose that family is covered also. Looking here: http://members.aol.com/calebj/eaton.html it doesn't appear that this Salisbury Eaton descends from the Mayflower family. There are of course the "tan books" of Massachusetts vital records for many towns, including Salisbury. Your quest reminds me of one of my own. I had a James Howland (descendant of Henry) who married a Deborah Cook in 1717 in RI. Franklyn Howland in a footnote re. Deborah in his book on the 3 Howland brothers mentions that there was a Francis Cook on the Mayflower. (He doesn't say Francis is her ancestor.) This was, of course, a dead end; but raised my hopes of a Mayflower connection for awhile. It wasn't until I ran across the book on Little Compton Families that I found that Deborah was a descendant of a Thomas Cooke, who has now been well documented in a 1987 book by Jane Fletcher Fiske. Regards, Howard hswain@ix.netcom.com
Well, it is definitely a shot in the dark if I don't include names, dates, etc....as my kids would say "Duh!". So.....I am looking for a Nancy Eaton b. abt 1779 m. Joshua Dow (Thomas, Henry, Henry, Joseph, Samuel, Joseph) abt 1800 in Seabrook, Rockingham, NH. B. abt 1778 Salisbury Essex, MA d. 3 Jan 1835 occupation wheelright lived in both Salisbury and Seabrook. In the 1820 and 1830 US census, he was living in Salisbury. Nancy and Joshua had 11 children: Joshua, Jacob, Israel, Benjamin, William, Reuben, Nancy, Cynthia, Susan (Sukey), Zelpha, Eunice. IHG, Cathy B.
<Raising her musket> Could anyone tell me if the Eaton line ends up in the Seabrook, Rockingham, NH/ Salisbury, Essex, MA area? If so, are there any sources you could recommend? I have a Nancy Eaton that married into my Dow line that is a brick wall. I have tried all the usual genealogical web pages, but to no avail. Have also tried MA-ESSEX and NH-ROCKINGHAM mail lists, nothing. *Any* leads you could provide would be greatly appreciated. IHG, Cathy B. <Lowering her musket and opening her eyes.>

I really hate to sound critical, but could those replying to a previous item, please just copy enough so that your reply makes sense. It is enough to read something once, but over and over is too much, and just fills up the mailbox. Reading that "Spam" 3 times made me write. Helen
I thought you had to subscribe to post to this list? to the Admin - Do we know who posted this? Unfortunately the headers are missing from what was posted to the list so I couldn't get an IP address the poster was posting from to really trace this email back to the ISP it came from to make a formal complaint. Tot he Admin - does rootsweb have a formal department to deal with this kind of spam on their lists? If the poster didn't subscribe then this was hacked... D James PS to the one who urged sending complaints to hotmail - as a matter of course most emails with a hotmail address in them are either forged or simply a drop box. Sending the complaint to hotmail wont truly affect the spammer. You need the headers to make the complaint to their ISP (get them kicked off line). > In a message dated 02/05/2003 5:57:51 AM Eastern Standard Time, > biocsada@Hotmail.com writes: > > > Thanks for posting to my FFA site. > > > > > > This is a spam free email as someone from this address has either posted to > > my FFA site, answered and AD, or asked for > > more information. I've already reported this person to hotmail's abuse department (abuse@hotmail.com), and encourage others to do the same. They have a no-tolerance policy for spammers. Anna

Ordinarily the genferret is an amiable, weasel-like creature, but the genferret is quick to respond to challenges, becoming a hissing, snarling blur of furry, fighting fury. Catching a whiff of challenge as to the gender specificity of the word "relict," the genferret is flushed with a rush of vitriolic pedantry searches the Compact Edition of the Oxford English Dictionary, wherein his weak, beady eyes trace out the words,"The surviving partner of a person. Obs. {as} 1667 Jer. Taylor...Though the relict of a man or woman have liberty to contract new relations, yet (etc.)" If the genferret were a creature with the least bit of generosity of spirit, the genferret would confess to never actually having seen the word relict applied to a male, but instead, replete with a feeling of vindication, the genferret curls up and dozes off. __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
