    3. This is addressed especially to any of you who have mastered the search at Google Books. Among the many treasures now online through this Google service (including such things as the tans series MA VR and many local histories available as free PDF downloads, peeks into MD and lots more) there is AT LEAST volume one of Nathaniel Bradstreet Shurtleff, David Pulsifer_Records of the Colony of New Plymouth, in New England_(Press of W. White, 1855) This is the deeds book, so it's a good one to have (this one is not in PDF for download, but you can read it online). But, what about the other 11 volumes? Are they also available here? I have not been able to find them, but I have not put a lot of effort into it yet, partly because I have tried this with the Essex Antiquarian. For anyone interested, the Essex Antiquarian is also available, but this time as a PDF download too, through Google Books. I tried to find every volume, but I have been able only to find about half of them, and even when I search by publishing year I get frustrating results. But there are other avenues for that particular work--it's PCR that I'm lusting after at the moment. I won't describe my problems with the search at Google Books, but if someone knows how to find the other 11 volumes of PCR, assuming that they are there, it would be an immense service to the list if an explanation were posted here. Would you like to have free online access to PCR from home any time? I thought so. If someone knows or can find out if Google Books really has that, please let us all know.

    3. Thanks for that, Dianne, but this Polly died in 1846 and her father in 1836. I should have included that information. I did know that others say that Hopson [1749-1836] had a daughter Polly and that Polly is a nickname for Mary. I have several other Pollys in my families. I just can't prove the connection. Thanks for your help. Dale H. Cook Okay, I've got Mary Cook with parents, but I have a lot of John's and several Giles Rickards in my database. Could someone please provide the linege for the John Rickard that married Mary Cooke? At this point, I have no parents and don't want to hook him to any ol' John since Dale indicates he married a John who was a cousin. But which one? Christie Trapp

Thanks, Hi Linda, I don't know, but I do see that in the census there's a Jonas Standish (two, actually) in Peru in 1800 (well, it wasn't called Peru then, but same place). There was a Jonas Standish who is a descendant of Myles b. 1751. He's not followed in the old Standish gen., but if he lived he'd be a good age to have a daughter who married in 1796. I don't have time tonight to look further, but if the name Jonas appears in your family later maybe this would be worth checking. The Peru VR wasn't helpful, as you probably know already. Good luck.

    3. Linda, In Mayflower Families Vol 16 (Standish) p. 160 there is a Miriam6, dau of Jonas5, (Israel4, Samuel3, Josiah2, Myles) Standish and Sarah Stedman. Miriam was b. ca. 1772 (does not give place). Among the references listed for this family are Peru-Hinsdale Baptist Church records. This Jonas was b. Norwich, CT 3 Nov 1751 and mentioned in the 1790 census of West Stockbridge. On 23 March 1772 Jonas Standish of Amenia, NY bought land in West Stockbridge from Ellias Willard. hope this helps.
