New York has censuses for the odd years. See if you can follow her through the years. Sue
Thank you. All I know about Electa is when she was born, who she married (Hustin McMillan born 1799 in Ireland) and when and where she died. She died at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Caroline and Peter Hoag in 1866 Clinton Co. Il. In 1850 census Electa and Hustin were living in Saratoga Springs NY where my grgrandmother Caroline McMillan was born and married Peter Hoag. My grandmother Hoag was also born Saratoga Spgs NY 1853. If I could find where Electa and Hustin McMillan married maybe I could find where she was living before her marriage. I do know the Ct birth is correct. I don't belong to NEGHS, was in hopes Santa might bring it, but he didn't, so I guess I'll have to join after the first of the year. I understand it's very good. Again, my thanks. DELANO KINDRED BEGINS Y-DNA TESTING PROJECT Our new venture – the Y-chromosome DNA test – has been a great success in 2006. Using the 25-marker test administered by FamilyTree DNA, the Delano Kindred has received results from four documented descendants of each of Philippe Delano's sons: Jonathan Delano married Mercy Warren, Thomas Delano married Rebecca Alden, Philip Delano married Elizabeth Sampson and Samuel Delano married Elizabeth Standish. The Kindred has members descended from Philippe's son John Delano but unfortunately none who have maintained the surname of Delano needed to do Y-DNA testing. (The testing is open only to male descendants with the surname DELANO or with a surname that was DELANO at one time but has been changed due to spelling variations, etc.) We now have a good baseline for Philippe's DNA but would like to have all of his five sons – including John -- represented in our findings. Can anyone help? DO YOU KNOW OF A MALE JOHN DELANO DESCENDANT? This man must descend from John Delano who married Mary Weston. If anyone can help please contact Sandy Sanford [email protected] or me, Muriel Curtis Cushing, at [email protected] If just interested we would welcome your visit to our website www.delanoye.org and click on the Family Tree DNA link on the home page. Exciting news: Through DNA testing we have also made a connection with Abraham Delannoy who settled in New Amsterdam (NYC) ca. 1652 from Holland. We would like to hear from descendants of our newfound branch of the Delano family. If you are a proven descendant of Abraham – or think you might be – please email [email protected] We look forward to hearing from you. Relatively yours, Muriel Curtis Cushing

From a granddaughter of John Bradford named Stella Bradford I received these hints. He was relation to a family by the name of Russell and also a family by the name of Smith. He had a brother that was killed by a falling tree named Henry. The family originally were in Maryland and migrated to Mechlinburg? North Carolina and then into Tennesee and thru Kentucky into Indiana. Some relatives lived in Switzerland County Indiana. Using these hints I have found a Mary Ann Bradford from Grainger County Tennessee who married there about 1800 or shortly after and moved to Franklin County Indiana. She married a Russell and he died shortly after. She had one son by him and another on the way when she made the trip to Indiana. Later she married a Mr. Gant. There are Gants burried in the cemetery where John and Sarah Blades Bradford are burried. A Benjamin Bradford was either a witness or signed for her to marry the Russe! ll. In Bartholomew County Indiana there was a David Bradford and wife Mary very early. They moved to Jennings County Indiana. When David Bradford died it mentions one son named David who was a minor. But, David Sr or Jr. owned land close to where my father was raised on the "Old Bradford Place". Also early in Bartholomew County was a Elias Bradford who married a Senia Deweese. I don't know if he is a brother or not. I have dates etc, but just trying to get you an answer right now and will fill in later. We still have not had our Christmas family party. It is tomorrow night. After that I can dig up the dates. I tend to think that our John's father was John Bradford and wife Elizabeth Mann, but have not found the proof. Where the Smith family comes in at I still don't know, but was told by Stella Bradford that our John was raised by a family named Smith. When searching in Switzerland County Indiana found a family of Bradfords that had connections to the Smith family there. Stella had mentioned Switzerland County Indiana. So, I have not cracked thru on this brick wall either, but seem to be skirting around the answer. Let me know what you think and if you can suggest any place for me to look around here. I live about 5 miles from the old Bradford Home Place and about 7 miles from where John and Sarah Blades are burried. Do you have on back on the Blades family? If not, I can fill you in on what I have. Hope to hear form you. Your distant cousin, Carol

She was married to Hustin McMillan. Hustin born 1799 in Ir. I don't know if they married in Ct or NY or where. But in 1850 Saratoga Spgs NY census they are living there. My grgrandmother, Caroline McMillan Hoag was born there in 1832. The census shows Caroline and a couple of her brothers there. I found out a couple of years ago they had at least one other daughter, Jane McMillan, she was born 1826, so they would have been married prior to 1826. Haven't been able to find them in any census before 1850. But who knows how the census taker spelled McMillan. Thanks so much for replying. I have Reed/Read in New Jersey at approximately mid 18th century. They came through Connecticut to New York then New Jersey. Would anyone with this Cooke/Reed Mayflower connection have any connection to Reed/Read in New Jersey. Dave from Long Island
Who was Electra Reed married to? In the "History of the Reede Family" I found an Electra B. married to a Luther Rand. She is the daughter of William C and Unknown Pollard Reed. It didn't have a birth date for her but it would have been about 1800.
