My ancestor, Guy Maxwell was born in Ireland , shortly after his parents, Jane McBrantney and Alexander Maxwell, were shipwrecked there enroute from Carlaverock,Scotland (1770)to America, finally arriving in 1770. They apparently settled in Chemung County, New York. Guy married Eleanore VanSteenbergh 1791 in Chemung county, and their children are: Charles, Susan,Thomas(1792), Samuel Hepburn(1797), Hector(1800) and William(1804).
