Hi, I myself feel like that they only take your money and that is it. I had subscribed to the census only to not be able to print it out. I even wrote to them from support and they did finally reply only to tell me that it should work and what to do of which it did not. I finally just stopped my subscription to them. I have wondered the same thing that you are asking about if anyone really gets any solid information from that that is correct and true. Kat
I had the same results and cancelled. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Llanotx53@aol.com> To: <MAXWELL-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, May 03, 2002 4:41 PM Subject: Re: [MAXWELL-L] Ancestry.com subscription UK/Ireland files ALL ANCESTRY .COM INF > Hi, > I myself feel like that they only take your money and that is it. Would you like to save the entire census page in a readable format? I have found a way to do this using the LizardTech MrSid browser. I will list the steps below. 1. When the image is displayed on your screen, right-click and select Frame Size. 2. Change the Custom Size to 2048 by 2048 and click the OK button. 3. Right-click again and select Save Image As. 4. Click on Save as type and select JPEG File (*.jpg) 5. Name the file appropriately and save it in a folder of your choice. The black border around the image is also saved. I use my own graphics program to remove this border and resave the file. Contrary to recent comments by other listers, I think the online images are great! They are much easier for this fifty-six year old man to read than microfilms in a dark library. With the indexes now being released we have a great opportunity to selectively preserve these records for posterity. I happily renewed my subscription for another year earlier this month. Good Luck!
