Jack- The book by Henry Maxwell relates to John and Ann (parents of General William Maxwell) of New Jersey. "Ancestors" is about one branch of the Henry Maxwell/Agnes Carson clan. Henry and Agnes were in York County, PA, however, there is no record of a daughter named Agnes. It is reported that they had seven sons. Your marriage data of "...married in 1740 in York County" may be incorrect. York County was not formed until 1749 (out of Lancaster County) and I know of only one Maxwell family west of the Susquehanna River at such an early date.
