John and I did the DNA Study when Don Maxwell started it- is he still involved? Even though I have a health related background, I must confess I don't understand it very well. I see the group my husband is in. How does one get to the result that I remember you used to be able to see? Also it looks to me like you are doing higher level tests than the first two- is that true? Thanks, Sue Maxwell Maxwell
Ken, you did a great job updating the page. I think that I may be of some help to you. Under the unmatched group, you have listed Bezaleel Maxwell m. Margaret Anderson (Kit 15019) I have all the info on Bezaleel and Margaret, as this is my line. What ever you need just let me know, my email is [email protected] Also, if the DNA study would like to have it's own blog, just let me know and I will set it up. Happy Holidays! Ken, I am confused (as usual). My kit #4369 is shown in Group 8. The Newlaw/Kirkconnell kit #44991 is shown in Group 6. By my comparison of the values in these two sets of alleles I see only two differences (447 has 25 vs. 26) and (607 has 16 vs. 15). Why are they not in the same group? There was a James Maxwell in Henry County, TN about 1830. He was involved in a financial transaction with a James Donnell. Does this ring any bells with anyone? Thanks, Alice

Don- Aren't you the Don Maxwell doing the DNA studies and related to the WVA Maxwells? You did my husband and myself- we are both Maxwells and said one of us was not a Maxwell as we were not related. John is descended from Cyrus Maxwell Sr, son of Rufus and Sarah Jane ( Bonnifield) Maxwell, and father back to Robert and Elizabeth in Pa, and Jane Lewis who came into WVA. There are always people testing in for him but never for me. I have never found any Maxwells in the dNA studies that i am related to except for my cousins. Sue Maxwell Maxwell in Provo, Utah.

In general, each kit # should list the earliest known Maxwell ancestor who can be proved through traditional genealogical methods. If anyone has (or discovers) an earlier ancestor than the one listed, please let Don or me know. What fun to see the list spring into action again. In the Christening records of the "Tinkling Springs" Old Craig Parish In Augusta Co., VA, 1740's, are the sons, William, James and Thomas, of John and Mary Maxwell. Also on the list was Edly, son of Edly Maxwell and Patrick, son of William Maxweell, 1741. Has anyone followed the adult Edly and William? Were they brothers of John Maxwell? It makes sense since the name Audley (Edley) runs in Johns family. Pat Stevens

I'm Looking for Suggestions and Possible Connections... My Ancestor was Joseph Maxwell c1774-1830. He was probably born near New York City where he married Margaret LAYCOCK in 1798 at the Dutch Reformed Church. Joseph and Margaret lived at NYC with periods Mt. Pleasant, Westchester Co. with the LAYCOCK family. Joseph MAXWELL died at New York City Hospital in 1830. His first Son was named Anthony MAXWELL. I'm trying to connect my Joseph MAXWELL with Enoch MAXWELL (c1751- )... or his brother William MAXWELL (c1745- ). Enoch MAXWELL was baptized in 1751 at Smithfield, PA Dutch Reformed Church---he was the son of Anthony MAXWELL and Eve FREELAND (Vreeland). At 1776 Enoch was recorded in New York City and in about 1785 he married Mary BARKER---the couple probaly lived at times near the Barker families at Westchester and Saratoga Counties, New York. Enoch MAXWELL died at Saratoga, NY in 1830 or 1831. Mary Barker MAXWELL probably was living at Westchester Co. when she died in 1850. My Thinking is that perhaps Joseph MAXWELL was the son or Enoch by a fist wife, or the son of his older brother William MAXWELL William MAXWELL was baptized 1745 at Smithfield PA. There were perhaps 6 separate individuals named William Maxwell listed in the New York City directories between the years 1789-1798. Thanks and Happy Hunting! Jim Maxwell
