    1. [MAXWELL-L] James Maxwell
    2. Millie Everson
    3. It's been quite awhile since I have tried to scale the "brick wall" of my Maxwell family tree. I have traced my Maxwell line back to James, born about 1663 in?? Maybe Scotland. I know that he was in Kent County,Delaware as early as 1686. He married Alice Adams (March 2, 1688) and had at least one son, Robert, and probably others. Some of my living relatives believe that he originally came to Dekaware from Virginia because his religious beliefs were different than those who governed that state. I don't know the facts that might support this. Is there anyone of Maxwell descent that might have any addition information on this James? I would appreciate anything that might put me on the right track. Millie Everson

    1. [MAXWELL-L] Daniel Maxwell, Boston, 1651
    2. Robert Maxwell
    3. Does anyone have any descendants from Daniel Maxwell, transported from London to New England on the John and Sarah, landed in Boston Feb. 1652? or James Maxwell born 1638 in Boston. The archives show a James Maxwell, a shoemaker, SCS member Boston 1684, probably the same James who was a messenger to the Council and Assembly of Massachusetts in 1699? Could this be the same James? Lois Maxwell furnished the following information from the Boston Birth Records that show a James & Dorcas having children David (8-31-1679), Dorcas (2-27-1677), James (2-15-1684), Samuel (5-12-1686), Samuel (9-30-1688) - perhaps the first Samuel died, and Susanna (8-27-16810. They also show a James and Margery having children Felex (9-22-1667), Mary (1-25-1673), and Sarah (10-19-1666). or John Maxwell, SCS member Boston 1686, a merchant in New England ca1699, a merchant in Boston and executor of John Cockburn's will? or Robert Maxwell, SCS member Boston 1691, in Massachusetts 1694? I am still looking for information on Alexander Maxwell who would have been born about 1694, married Elizabeth Kibbe abt 1718, and died in Sherborn 17 Aug 1745. Bob M

    1. Re: [MAXWELL-L] Agnes (Nancy) Maxwell
    2. Jack- The book by Henry Maxwell relates to John and Ann (parents of General William Maxwell) of New Jersey. "Ancestors" is about one branch of the Henry Maxwell/Agnes Carson clan. Henry and Agnes were in York County, PA, however, there is no record of a daughter named Agnes. It is reported that they had seven sons. Your marriage data of "...married in 1740 in York County" may be incorrect. York County was not formed until 1749 (out of Lancaster County) and I know of only one Maxwell family west of the Susquehanna River at such an early date.

    3. Do you recall anything about a David R and Anna or Annie Maxwell. David served in the 2nd Pa Cav, Co C during the Civil War. They lived in Manyunk (?think that's spelled right) part of Philidelphia, during and after the war. I am looking for a connection to them as they were good friends of my uncle Schuyler Patterson and I'd like to know if there might be letters from his mother, Cyrena, to Annie somewhere in one of the families.
