    3. Mary, I'll forward this to your distant cousin who supplied the sample..I'm sure he will contact you as I spoke to him by phone today. Technically a 9/12 would "match" but would be so distant as before the time surnames were used....therefore genealogically the information wouldnt be helpful. A "distant" 10/12 is a distant match....maybe up to 14-165 generations removed....see: http://nitro.biosci.arizona.edu/ftdna/10-0-2.html Be sure to read the statistical links they are quite good and easy to understand.... Let me know if the John des thru son Audley doesnt contact you soon! Thanks for your reply! Dumfriesshire, Scotland (emigrated to New Jersey about 1760) 2. Monmouth County, New Jersey (maybe) 3. Living in Trenton, Hunterdon County, New Jersey in 1767. (Trenton is now in Mercer County.) 4. Franklin, Warren County, Centerville and Miamisburg, Montgomery County, Ohio. There were family members living in Greene, Hamilton and Miami Counties too. (A large group of New Jersey Presbyterians migrated to this part of Ohio between 1800 and 1810) 5. Delphi, Carroll County, Indiana and Lafayette, Tippecanoe County, Indiana. A brother, sister and their families lived in Van Buren Township, Kosciusko County, Indiana before joining others in Wabash Township, Tippecanoe County, Indiana. (The first family arrived in Carroll County about 1836.) 6. Union and Indian Creek Townships, Story County, Iowa (arrived in 1856) 7. 3. well, shoot. thought I might get lucky and find my Kenneth. Maybe I'll have to see if he was an Atlanta Maxwell. But with my luck he'll be from Maine. Ha. Thanks for looking. 3. Ray No sorry, all I know for sure is Susannah's birthday 4 Feb 1787 and marriage and death and some children. Indications are that her marriage to John Elliott may have been her second marriage and she had may have had other children by her first husband. Thomas may have been her father but I think her grandfather was captain William. Justus [mailto:rwjustus@cox.net] Sent: Tuesday, September 03, 2002 10:43 PM To: MAXWELL-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [MAXWELL-L] More on New Jersey Maxwells This is all I have regarding another generation. The Compendium of American Genealogy, Volume IV, Page 384 5. Thomas Maxwell, from Dumfrieshire, Scotland, 1760, settled in Trenton, N.J. married ----- Hamilton. 4. Thomas Maxwell (1767-1820) m. My great-grandfather, George McCann Maxwell, was a younger brother of Nathaniel Van Maxwell. I have complete probate records on the second Thomas (1767-1820) and orphan records on his three youngest children -- Phebe, Nathaniel and George. Thomas died October 5, 1820 in Montgomery County, Ohio, probably in Washington Township, and is buried in the New Jersey Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Carlisle, Warren County, Ohio. Using the standard thirty years per generation, the first Thomas would have been born in Scotland circa 1737. How does this fit with your William? Did Susannah migrate to Ohio? Thomas and Rachel had twelve children. I have identified three, suspect five more and don't have a clue on the remaining four. The birth years I know range from 1792 to 1814 with lots of gaps. I wish I could find more on Rachel Chambers, the wife of the second Thomas. Did she remarry after Thomas died? When and where did she die? Where is she buried? It appears from the records that she was still living when the final settlement was filed on March 13, 1827. What happened to her after that is still a mystery.
