Hi! It's been a long time since I put anything out on the list. We are working in the Civil War year newspapers, The Windham County Transcript, published in Danielsonville, CT. I found this today. Paper dated 1 Oct. 1863. Suicide - Mr. Joseph Woodbury, who lived in Lealandsville, (Charlton, Mass.) committed suicide by hanging, on the night of Sept. 16th. Two letters were found on his table, one addressed to his wife, the other to his children, from whom he been parted for about a year. The last letter was dated, "just half past eight"--he probably hung himself immediately after writing it. Since his wife and children left him he has lived alone. He was a stone cutter by trade, and about sixty years of age. Rum and domestic troubles were the cause of his rash deed. Marilyn Labbe Killingly Historical & Genealogical Society, Inc.
