Burial in East Street Cemetery, Petersham. February 21, 1996, Ashby, Bernice M. (WHITNEY) CURRAN, 93, her son Donald CURRAN, a Marine corpsman, died in the invasion of Saipan in 1944. She was a member of the Worcester Foster Parents Assoc., the Marines Auxiliary, Fitchburg, and was a former president of th Fitchburg District, Foster Parents Assoc.. Also a former president of Fitchburg Post #10, American Legion Aux. and a former vice president of HOLMES-CURRAN-BENNETT Post, American Legion Aux., Ashby. Former president of Amercan Gold Star Mothers, Fitchburg; and a former officer of Middlesex County Goat Breeders Assoc. Born in Fitchburg to Aaron & Almira (GLEASON) WHITNEY. Widow of the late James CURRAN, 1970. Her burial is in Hillside Cemetery, Townsend. April 21, 1997, Worcester, Catherine T. (O'CONNOR) KELLEHER, 95, mother to John D. KELLER of Worc., KIA in 1950, while serving in the Army in Korea. She had worked at Parker Mfg. Co. and was a member of Christ the King Church. Born in Worcester to Dennis P. & Abby (SULLIVAN) O'CONNOR. Widow to William H. KELLEHER, 1974. St. John's Cemetery burial. January 25, 1997, Westminster, Ruth L. (MORSE) BLISS, 89, died in West Palm Beach, FL. Mother of Gerald BLISS, a Navy officer and survivor of the D-Day invasion, was killed in Panama during WWII enroute to the Pacific. She was head housekeeper at Gardner State Hospital for many years, retiring in 1973. During WWII, she was a supervisor for Raytheon Co. at a silver shop in Gardner. Former member of Garner Post #129, American Legion Aux Born in Taunton to Abram & Hannah (KING) MORSE. Her husband, Charles C. BLISS died in 1979.
